Black Ash Chapter 1: Arrival

  • As he stumbled out of the tavern, clad in his ragged chitin armor, Antheis couldn't help but notice something strange about red mountain in the distance. Of course it was always smoldering, the red year had seen to that, and the mountain still had not completely settled down. but today, the ash plume seemed to be glowing a bright red, like that of the heart stones that often spewed out. He shrugged this off as nothing important and continued to the other side of the city. He had been hired to retrieve a stolen item from some reavers on the bitter coast and had to find a ride to seyda neen. As he crossed the bridge across the river, he heard a peculiar noise, like the crackle of a small fire. It abruptly evolved in to a roar, and a large firey explosion had erupted behind him. As he sat up, he saw what looked to be dunmer, clad in ordinator armor, the typical armor of enforcers of the tribunal. It was different however, painted a deep red, and stained with black markings. One of the ordinators, who Antheis soon identified as the leader removed his helm. His face was burnt, two massive hands had been singed in to the side of his face, and two large scars trailed from the bottom of his eye. Whomever these dunmer were working for, they clearly had enough dedication to scar themselves as a show their faith. As he spoke, there was a rasp in his voice, as if it were full of ash. "Good citizens of Morrowind" he began, "we have come with good tidings, your days of following your evil and callous daedric rulers are over, the power of the tribunal has returned, and one leader will unite all of Morrowind. however, we have but one question of you, which among you is the descendant of the heratic Neraverine. Come fourth, and we will allow you to answer for the crimes that your family has committed against the dunmer." there was a long silence. Antheis knew they were referencing him, but he wasn't about to reveal himself to face them outright. Suddenly the ordinator grabbed a young dunmer by the throat and held him in the air. "very well, if you will not give yourself up willingly," he said "then we will have to force you out"
