I was leaving Whiterun to go into the mountains to make my own adventure. I didn't know what would happen but I knew that I would head out to Riverwood to look for bandits to slay. I didn't find bandits on my unscripted adventure. I walked right out of Whiterun and began to ascend the mountain path. Out of the skies I saw a dragon set out to attack Whiterun. I ran away hoping to get help from the guards and slay the beast. We fought the dragon together with our arrows and swords. The dragon then landed near us. I was firing an arrow from my Orcish bow only to hit a guard by accident. The guards immediately turned their assault on my for one small mistake in the heat of battle. I had to tell them that I was the Thane for them to ignore it and battle the dragon. If their number one priority in a fight against a dragon is arresting citizens who are helping when they make a mistake, than, my friends, we are in trouble. This is troubling indeed, the guards will turn on anyone who hits a guard with friendly fire in the heat of battle and ignore the dragon that could destroy the entire town while they arrest one courageous warrior. We will not be able to defeat the dragons if we are to be expected to be arrest for every time we shot, blinded by the dragon's fire, a guard.

I've heard about this before - Guards immediately going aggro on you for friendly fire. But it really makes sense logical sense
Hopefully Bethesda will get the message and fix it in the next patch
