  • My escape into Skyrim - Sundas 17th of Last Seed 4E201

When I awoke in the prison cart bound for Helgen it was just the latest in a long line of disasters to befall me.

My comfortable, if somewhat, unexciting life was shattered when the hold of the minor lord I served was overrun by renegade Thalmor.

I had been away at the time and returned to find the village in flames and the elves sifting through the wreckage of our homes.

I barely escaped that event with my life and have yet to find anyone else from my village who did.

Pursued over the border into Skyrim I fell into company with a group of friendly Nord Warriors, and barely had time to catch my breath before their camp in turn was overrun, this time by Imperial soldiers.

I ended up in Helgen with my head on a chopping block, ready to die.

What happened next is quite honestly a blur.

There was a dragon, I have no doubt of that.

There was also understandable panic and people shouting and screaming.  I stumbled from one crisis to the next trying to find safety and a means of escape.

A warrior called Hadvar eventually showed me a way of escape through the dungeons and the water system, and it looks as though he and I were the only people to make it.

I ended up staying for a while with Hadvar's Uncle Alvor and his wife Sigrid.  However, I left as soon as I could because it was clear that Sigrid seemed uncomfortable with me around.

It was about this time that I made friends with the local village merchant, a man named Lucan Valerius.  Well perhaps friend is the wrong word.  Rather we found it beneficial to collaborate.  I needed money and a place to stay and he needed protection and a few scores settled.

We still collaborate and I still live in the cottage he made available to me by the White River.  I know Lucan will buy any loot I find on my travels, and he knows I will use my muscle to obtain justice or vengence for him and his sister.

    It is a useful arrangement.
