Ingoknin Chapter 10 – Alliances

  • My notes:  First I am sorry I was gone so long, just "life" :)  Anyway I have been writing this story even though I wasn't posting - here is another chapter - thanks everyone :)

    Chapter 10 – Alliances

Jyta runs over to Lette when she sees her limping towards the clearing.  Verara summons all her reserves and heals Lette’s wound as best she can.  Not much is said, everyone is on high alert.

Idonis looks exhausted, the mage had used frost spells and you could see the patches of red on her face and arms where it was so cold it “burned” her.  The tear of flesh where the ice ripped her.  Felsa does her best on Idonis, the bleeding is stopped at least for the time.

Bagrak knows they are not out of danger that they must get away from where they are and keep on the move, they must also split up, groups as large as this would be easy to find.  She looks at Neesha and Idonis, they both nod.  Bagrak holds her comrades with the highest respect, they all did it together.  Mer and Man, man and mer, side by side!

They are all from different areas, backgrounds, and faiths, but a bond has been forged.  Silently they prepare for their repsctive departures.

Verara, her sister Felsa, and Salms head north for Winterhold and Windhelm, they just wanted to get back to their families.

Idonis and Viania headed towards the Imperial City to re-group with the army.

Neesha, a loner at heart decided to head south, see where fortune takes her.

Jala was from Whiterun and Haema from Morthal, they decided to journey together.  As did Fryfnh and Thales, they were headed to Solitude.

Lette limps over to Bagrak, “I owe you so much.” Her voice cracks.

Bagrak shakes her head, “No Lette, don’t.  You're free now too.”

“I know, but I owe you, remember me.  I am taking Jyta home, to Markarth.  Just send word, or come get me and I will always fight by your side.”

Bagrak and Nin, knew where they needed to go, Gerir.  The map the chief had written out for them had been left at the camp site where the attack first took place, in Nin’s knapsack.  They decided to fore-go going back to the site, they had an idea where she was and that was good enough for now.

Nin has a sharp pain, her Poppa’s bow; she could only hope it was safe where she hid it…

They decided to head right back through the Pale Pass, cross the board and head towards Falkreath.

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Aranni weighs his options; looking at the Orc he does not appear to be some rabble bandit.  “Orc, stand down, you are no match for my arrow and I am no match for your brute strength.  I am Aranni, I am looking for two travelers, an Orc and a Nord, and maybe you know them?  The Nord’s farther and I were good friends, her name is Ingoknin?”

Malkus, has a sense no one knows he possesses he has an uncanny ability to “sense” when someone is lying.  It is his gift and his curse.  The Woodelf is not lying and he knows Nin’s name, could have gotten from her things he saw him nosing through.  But standing with an arrow aimed at his head would not get him the information he wanted.  “I am Malkus, and I agree your arrow and my strength are at an impasse, but before I lay my weapon down, you must stand down as well.”

    Muscles twitch the air electric.

Both moving simultaneously they slowly set down their weapons.

Aranni, sees worry in the Orcs eyes.  “I do not know what happened here Malkus, but I too feel fear.  I need to find Nin, I need to be sure she gets to Gerir, Codell would expect no less of me.”

Malkus looks the Woodelf in the eye, using his sense and detecting no falsehood within.  “Aranni you said they call you?  I came tracking them, the horses came back to the hold, and we knew something happened.  You speak of Gerir and Codell as though you know them, I have known Codell he mentioned you not, but I sense you are someone to trust, but I warn you elf, cross me and I will unleash my wrath.”

Aranni, looked Malkus right back, this was the only thing he could do to assure the Orc he was not going to double cross him.  “Look at the armor on the two dead bodies I pushed off to the side.  They are not of a guild or army.  I am thinking it is just a random attack one of opportunity more than planning, almost all the valuables were left.”  He shows the pack with the rings and the coin sack.

The Orc rubbed his chin.  “I think it might be best to head into Windhelm, ask if anyone has heard of any attacks maybe gather information as to where to head.”

Aranni agreed.   “My horse is very tired we road hard to get here, if you do not want to wait for me I understand but I cannot press her much more today.”

“We will leave at first light.  I have a few old friends who live just outside the city on the docks, if anything has been going on Deehei will know.”
