Weapon Smithing

  • I am sure all of you have heard about the new forging area that Skrim has to offer. I wonder about all the different types of weapons you can make and how strong you can make your weapon by upgrading it. I also wonder if you could make a rusty dagger into a mean silver killing machine or if it really doesn’t get any better than that.  I want to hear everyone’s ideas on the subject, like what will the materials be for making weapons and will it be very hard to find the materials needed to make the so desired weapon. How will you upgrade a weapon and will it also need more materials to be upgraded or do you just have to be a good armorer to make your weapon better. Please comment…

The emphasis is going to be on improving items rather than simply restoring them back to their 'as new' condition. That's why they've gone with the crafting instead of armour degradation / repair.

So I assume we'll be able to make weapons bet...  more

I believe I heard in an interview with todd howard that you will be able to upgrade your weapons by changing out pieces of it, for instance, you could add leather to the handle of your dagger or switch out what material the blade was made out of and all s...  more

I agree with that, and I wished that you could have done this in previous games considering they did have the materials just no smithing area
