Elizabeth: Chapter 2 - Rest assured.

  • Chapter 2 - Rest assured.

Alvor proceeds to introduce himself and explain to me how Faendal, the local Bosmer has found me in the woods and how the people of Riverwood decided to have him observe me for a while.  Apparently Faendal is much better at navigating the wilds than me.  Eventually the citizens of Riverwood decided that I was no threat to them and would just wait for me to come on my own to the village.  I listen too all this and I could feel my cheeks getting really warm as I blush at being discovered without having any knowledge of it.  Alvor suddenly laughs at seeing this and say: "Its ok lass.  We are just happy you finally decided to come say hello." I smile sheepishly at the big man with the beard and eventually giggle a bit out of relief.  "So my girl, what's this rambling about a Dragon then, hmmmm?"

This time it is my turn to explain to Alvor all the happenings that has transpired until our meeting at the forge. Alvor gives a heavy sigh:  "So that is what I heard then. Blasted! I was hoping it was just some wild beast nearby."  I try to study his face to see if I could read his thoughts.  He seemed deep in his thinking, but eventually he spoke again: "We need to inform the Jarl. And we best make haste of it."  "Yes off course.", I replied, not having a clue where this Jarl would even be.  Alvor still looked very complex about something, like something was wearing heavily on his shoulders. As if prodded by some unforeseen will to do the right thing, and maybe also to prove to the world that I'm not an evil person, I say: "I'll go to this Jarl...  I just don't know where he lives." Alvor looks up at me suddenly, I could see gratitude, as well as a doubt in his eyes.  "Are you sure lass.  I mean, with the Dragon out there and all?".  I nod my head insistently, trying to mask my own fears.  Alvor lets off a long sigh again.  "I guess it can't be helped.  We'll need all the men here to protect the village if that Dragon comes back."

Alvor invited me into his house, where I met his wife Sigrid.  A tall Imperial woman with thick auburn hair.  She looked me up and down and said: "You are beautiful, no doubt about that.  Just keep your hands of my husband."  I was quite puzzled with this, but just nodded my head in silence.  I also met their daughter Dorthe.  Like her father, she was quite friendly and asked me all sorts of questions.  I would have been stuck there till dawn answering the little girls questions, was it not for her father who intervened.  Alvor was standing there with some sort of armor in his hands he just took out a old dusty chest by the edge of the fire pit in the middle of the room.  It looked heavy, and I could see the chest piece was made out of iron. "Come here lass, let me see your fit.", he commanded. I moved over and he placed the iron armor over my head onto my shoulders. I catch my breath at the sheer weight of it, but eventually I drop to one knee.  Being small in stature is not really helping either. Alvor sees me drop to one knee and immediately lifts the armor off. "Right, that's not going to work."  He actually looked disappointed.
