Friessa - Riverwood Adventures

  • Peaceful Riverwood

I came across this town today, Riverwood it was called, a peaceful haven in this disputed Skyrim. I ventured around the town have idle conversation with the locals, I came across a woman called Gerdur, she told be her Husband, Hod, was looking for someone to chop some wood. I took a stroll over to the mill and had a nice little chat to Hod, I can see why Gerdur likes him, a strong Nord man, not my mug of ale however. He told me I would get five septims per piece of wood, I tried to haggle with him on the price but he would not budge, such a shame. I agreed to begin working for him. Over the coming days I worked for him whilst renting a room at the Sleeping Giant Inn off of Delphine. Behind the bar worked Orgnar who was a grumpy old man, however he does cook up some lovely stews and snacks that I purchase off him with some of my coin I get from working at the mill.

Several days into my work at the mill I overheard Sven having a go at Faendal, I listened in on the conversation and heard it had something to do with Camilia Valerius, the sister of Lucan, the owner of the general goods store in town. I chopped wood for several more hours and on my lunch break I sat down and had a chat to Faendal, this is the first time I've properly conversed with anyone since I left Bruma which must be... Two months ago maybe, the events seem like yesterday. It was more that Faendal was just talking to me but it was nice and have interaction on an in depth level with someone again. He told me that Sven was wooing Camilia with his poems, however he was sneaking in and seeing Camilia after the shops closing hours. Somewhat of a love triangle. Faendal and I devised a cunning plan to stich Sven up so that Camilia wouldn't want to spend anymore time with him, it felt wrong however when you look at how Sven had treated Faendal he deserved it. I gave a letter to Camilia pretending it was from Sven and the rest worked itself out. Faendal had come to trust me.

Over the next few weeks of working at the mill I had begun to amass a nice amount of coin. Faendal and I had become good friends and he taught me some of his skills with the bow, he was a Bosmer and had a natural talent with it. Faendal and I went on hunting trips together where we would hunt elk and foxes in the area surrounding Riverwood, I would pick flowers and shrubs which I used to make concoctions to help me weild a bow better. I have yet to find out where Morthal is so I can meet Dreas' friend who can train me in the art of conjuring.

One day when I was out hunting with Faendal we came across a pack of wolves, Faendal was swift with his bow and took out several of them before they spotted us, however I was much slower and only managed to injure one of them. They jumped on us, Faendal pulled out his dagger as he dropped his bow to the ground, he began slashing at me and they were all on him. I had no idea what to do as I lacked any weapon I was good with, I thought back to why I was here and out of nowhere I had conjured a sword into my hand, the same one I used to train with back in Bruma with Maiq. I charged in at the wolves, slashing one of their jaws, kicking one in face and stabbing the final one through its leg. Faendal was hurt badly, luckily we weren't too far from Riverwood. I summoned up the courage to pick Faendal up, as I looked around for his bow it wasn't there... Those bastard wolves must have taken it. I made my way back to Faendal's house and I ran, as fast as I could, to the inn where I had been staying. There was an alchemy table there that I had been using, I cooked up a potion in record time, Dreas had taught me how to make one that would cure wolf bites and all the diseases that come with them. I forced this down Faendal's throat and let him rest.

I looked after him for several days explaining to Hod why we were not in for work, Sven had to work overtime which put a smile on Faendal's face. I cooked for him and read the books he had kept in his house, they were mainly about hunting and how to use bows, I want to try out some of these techniques some time.
