Sigurd's Saga, Part three

  • Thank the gods the old landmarks are still intact, without them I would have been lost hopelessly in the wilds.  Skyrim is still as untamed and dangerous as it was in my time, I'm gladdened to see some things have not changed.  Along the path to Darkwater Crossing, I met an amusing sight,  Three hunters, their clothes and weapons hung out, bathing, in a geyser pool!  They must have thought me crazy, shaking with laughter,  and staring wide-eyed,  they looked sceptically at me as if this was perfectly normal, and everyone did this, I have my doubts on that though.  One of the men got up and pointed me to the direction to the main path, and we bade our farewells.  As I approached the small encampment, the old instincts kicked in, it was too quiet, there was no clank of metal against rock, the forge was cold, not even the birds were whistling.  No sooner had I taken this in, a large nord in regal attire on a white steed came out of the trees, surrounded by a guard of fifteen men, all sturdy, and armed, the horse suddenly reared up and let out a scream as a red shafted arrow pierced its throat.  as the lord tumbled to the ground, his rushed into a hasty shieldwall as Imperial Legionaires rushed from the bushes. The nordic warriors were vastly outnumbered but they held firm, immediately taking their side, I drew my blade and charged the Imperials, letting loose a roar, what business did these Imperial snowbacks have ambushing nords in their homeland? I was largely ignored by both sides, until my sword rended a legionaire from shoulder to hip, his comrade, rushed over and as a sent a murderous overhand swing at his skull, he swept his shield up and my sword broke asunder, the ancient blade giving way to fresh steel.  As he closed in for the kill, I managed to grab his arm and snap it backwards, relieving him of his sword in the process, as I plunged it into his throat, hearing his life gurgling away, I looked up, and saw an officer, bringing a warhammer the size of Tsun down upon me.

Great entry period. Interesting details all around. There's definitely more here than expected.

This was a really nice way to get him into Helgen...it is perfectly natural for him to assume the side of the Nords after his long sleep.  I am curious how he will feel after he learns more about the situation, and if that will make him change his opinion.
