The Terrible Stealth Mechanics

    Hello, everyone. I love the game, but I feel the need to rant about something. 

    Stealth is almost the only character type I play, and when I find that I can't do that anymore, it makes me feel like I shouldn't even be playing.

    The issue is, I sneak up behind someone (I have the backstab perk, and 3/5 perk points into the sneak perk thing.), if I'm not doing the really slow version of sneaking, I get caught. Problem with the slow version? I can't keep up with the person walking, thus daggers and/or 1h swords are completely and entirely useless. Bow attacks? Sure, those work just fine. But they don't do as much damage as my 6x backstab perk. I feel like I wasted a perk point now.

    Come on, Bethesda, REALLY? Make it so us keyboard users can actually play a stealth character, will you?

    'Muffle' should solve some of your issues. Lasts a cool three minutes! In fact i dont think i could build a stealther without some investment in Illusion, i want the option to become invisible if the shit hits the fan.

    got a pair of silent boots from the nightingales can run up to people and stealth kill now.

    Kyle, there are 3 ways to play the game. None of them are a waste of time. If that was the case, they shouldn't even be options. Sneaking is useful when you need to avoid engaging high level enemies altogether (How many times have you guys died to trolls ...  more

    Is it now just the same as oblivion? To just hold shift or press caps lock to sneak slow and slow walking? I,m playing on Xbox now, i need to upgrade my pc ;)

    It's skyrim! You really think if you went running up to your mate he wouldn't notice? Especially in quiet areas and in times of dragon and civil wars! Just get you bloody great axe out and bash some skulls! All that sneaking around waste playing time!!!

    Yeah my stealth experience has been unparalleled, but that's because I'm using a controller.  Never thought about that issue for keyboard users.  Hope your problem is fixed soon!

    Maybe your sneak skill isn't high enough yet to take full advantage of your perks. The strategy guide says not to bother getting the higher perks until you reach a high level.
