Upcoming Blog

  • Greetings again everyone! I’m having a fantastic time writing and publishing my blog “Finding My Place”. In case you haven’t read it yet, you can find it on my page or you can just mosey on over to the Blog Posts section and find it there. It’s a tragic tale of a High Elf Lolindir living in Skyrim parallel to the Dragonborn. But it’s a serious tale with a lot of dark humor and death and blood and betrayal and conspiracy and all sorts of other fun things.

Due to my ‘glass-half-full’ personality, I find myself almost in a depressed state after I write the next chapter of the story. So I decided that in order to keep (if nothing else, my own) moral up, I’m going to start an in-game blog called “Maxworth the Nobody” It’s going to be a humorous blog following the misadventures of a Nord named Maxworth as he tries to live in Skyrim rather than saving it.

Now, I must admit (because I’m not really sure how copyright laws work and such) that this is NOT one of my original ideas unlike my other blog. I read and followed a similar blog on PC gamer a few months back. It made me laugh and enjoy Skyrim from a different perspective. So I thought that I would attempt to recreate such a blog using my own character and own adventures in order to give you the same satisfaction. I encourage you to make a new character and play along as well! You may find that it adds a whole new level of challenges to the game.

If anyone else on the site has already published something like this, I am sorry for stealing your idea, I didn’t mean to. But I wasn’t going to sit and read every blog post ever to find out if it’s been done before on this site. Oh, and Christopher Livingston, if you are reading this, please do not sue me for copyright violations if there are any, I’m turning no kind of profit. It’s just for fun.

Alight so let’s lay down a few ground rules before we get started.

1.) Player has to eat meals regularly, (2-3 meals a day. Also, there may be snacks when necessary.)

2.) Player must sleep regularly. (Average of the doctor recommended 8 hours a night.)

3.) Player must walk as the NPC’s do. (There may be running but only when it is needed. Like fleeing, fighting, in a hurry, emergencies, that type of thing.)

4.) NO STEALING! We’re playing as an honest character that does not wish to anger the gods, so he does not steal.

5.) We’re not playing to get rich or to go on great adventures. We’re trying to survive, not become a legend. So that means we won’t be delving into deep ruins looking for treasure of taking on hoards of bandits. So this restricts a lot of quest. (A few quest that are misc are ok. Like Adrianna in Whiterun asks you to take the sword she made to her father in Dragonsreach. That’s ok, no danger involved. Taking on the glenmoril witches however, probably not a good bet.)

6.) No reloads. If the character dies, then the story is over.

Now that we know the rules, let’s look at the goals of the game.

1.) Find a steady source of income that is not adventuring. (Wood chopping, mining, alchemy, maybe even hunting.)

2.) Find a place to live. They say home is where the heart is, but in Skyrim, home is where the chests do not respawn!

3.) Find a spouse. (Options will be extremely limited due to the no adventuring, but it can be done.)

4.) Just have fun! The beauty of the Elder Scrolls games is that you can play it any way you want!

The difficulty will be set to expert and I will be playing this on the PC and so naturally, I’ve modded the files a bit. I’ve removed all unnecessary mods I’ve installed like armor and weapons. But more importantly, I’ve added a lot of mods that elevate the difficulty. So I will post them here so that If you want to play along, you can download these too if you wish. (All mods are available through the Steam Community under the names they appear as below.)

Marriage Mod- To have & Hold                                                  Dovahkiin Relaxes too

    Fishing in Skyrim                                                                               Training Dummies

    Sabre Gear Backpack                                                                      Race Plus+

Skyrim Live                                                                                         Codifreds Enhanced Hunting (WHIP)

Crime Pays                                                                                          Alternate Start- Live Another Life

Keep in mind that other mods like “realistic lighting” are not listed above because they are just graphic enhancers and have nothing to do with the gameplay.

You can expect 1-2 post per week. And it will run until I die or accomplish all the goals listed above. I hope you guys are as excited about this I am. First post will be up sometime on Monday!

    Cheers-L
