Senégon the Mage - Chapter 2: Dragons

  • Senégon the Mage - Chapter 2: Dragons

    17th of Last Seed, 4E 201

A Legionnaire grabbed me by the arm and pushed me toward the others. His grip was like a vice, the hands of a soldier with years of hard, repetitious training. My mind began to flood with ideas; all of them revolved around one desire - escape.

You thought I was going to take my death squatted over an execution block like a pig for slaughter? I consider myself a man of the empire, my whole life I’ve fought alongside and worked with the empire, but the injustice of this situation enraged me. I’m a man of logic and wisdom, not of thoughtless chaos these men might call “action”.

General Tullius stood forward and addressed the rebel leader, “Many in Skyrim consider you a hero,” his voice range out through the quiet courtyard, “but a hero doesn’t use the power of the Thu’um to twist a country into disarray. Too long have you and your Stormcloak’s spread your lies through Skyrim. Today, the empire is going to shut you and your rebellion down.” The imperial soldiers gave a shout of agreement, and a soldier of the legion pushed Ulfric down onto the block.

“I’ll see you in Sovngarde, My Jarl.” It was Ralof who spoke out. As the Headsman Walked over to the block, a sudden earsplitting roar pierced the air, the roar of the legends, a dragon. There were Screams through the crowd. Now was the time for “action” I thought hastily to myself. The words of magic were on my lips as a huge black mass landed on the highest tower, crushing it down a whole story.

“A dragon!” Someone screamed. Chaos broke loose, I lost my focus. The whole world seemed to shake as the dragon spoke. Flames rained from the sky. In all of the confusion I was able to push the headsman down and with both hands bound together in front of me; I tapped into the magic within my mind and thought the word “calm”. Ice colored air rushed out of the hands and struck the headsman. Without another look I turned around to see Ralof running towards a small tower in the corner of Helgen, I rushed in behind him as he shut the door with a loud Thud.

“Was that really a dragon? I’ve only heard of the ones in stories of old.” Ralof asked. A figure emerged out of a shadowed corner of the tower, it was Ulfric Stormcloak.

“That was no legend or myth; it appears the dragons are back.” He said. I’d studied dragons back with the Mages Guild in my younger years. There isn’t much known about them except that they were said to be extremely intelligent, very magical, and most importantly, extinct.

    Until now.

It'sood to own the story and change events as needed to serve the writer. This shows promise but I have to agree with the tall elf, it's a limitless short.

Otherwise, it's a good start and I like the perspective. I haven't read a story from a...  more

I'm happy you liked it man. I didn't realize how short this chapter was until after i'd posted it! I promise that the next chapter in particular will be much linger. Thanks for the feedback

I like these two chapters you've posted, it's interesting to see the world from a mage's perspective and you take little details into account, I just wish you'd make the chapter's longer so i could read more!
