It's official : Skyrim is Game of the Year

    Last evening saw the annual Spike TV Game of the Year Award ceremony.

    And the hot news is that Skyrim was crowned with the biggest of all the prizes - the coveted 'Game of the Year' beating out competition from Batman: Arkham City; Uncharted 3; Portal 2 and The Legend of Zelda : Skyward Sword.

    Additionally, Bethesda won the title of 'Studio of the Year', winning out over Naughty Dog, Rocksteady and Valve

    Congratulations to Todd Howard and the Bethesda team! A delighted Howard commented, "We poured ourselves into this for the past three years."

    Just to say: woooohoooo! I would have been so disappointed if anything else won. I am still completely in love with this game, really deserves to be the Game of the Year.

    For the Studio of the Year award, I can understand that one. Valve only released Portal 2  and that game was a tad too short to even be nominated for any awards. Rocksteady has clearly proven themselves to be a small and fairly new studio capable of makin...  more

    I knew it was going to happen, and they definitely deserve it, but I can't say I would have been terribly disappointed if any of the others won. They are all great games that are extremely worthy of GOTY

    I've played hundreds of ours of Skyrim, and I'm still just as amazed by it as the first time I turned it on.  It deserves every award it gets.

    Not that I was surprised, but congrats to them!

    They've earned it, and although there is a few flaws, it's still an overall great game.
