WEEKLY POLL Has the news about ESO changed your opinion?

  • Last week we had some very important news with the announcement that Elder Scrolls Online is to dump its much-derided subscription model in favour of a 'free to play' policy (albeit with an in-game shop).

In one fell swoop, the most common 'objection' to this game has been removed. Or has it? Does this news actually make you want to play Elder Scrolls Online? That's what this weeks poll is all about.

I've given you the obvious range of options in the poll - if you've got some other view then please make it in the comments below. I think it will be interesting, not least for the future direction of this site, to get a really good lot of votes this week and plenty of comments..

So what are you waiting for? Get voting and commenting. I look forward to your views...

Well I'm not sure if internet can handle it (even playing DDO was hard for it to deal with) but this definitely means I'll have a look. Some people say free-to-play has indirectly announced crappiness, others say it's all right. I'm not sure what to think...  more

I personally feel like it's all about the community in an MMO, really. It's no fun when everyone's ceaselessly grinding to become stronger and richer and whatever else lets them one-up everyone else. Sometimes it's good to have a community that knows when...  more

Finally! I bought the game at launch and had an okay time with it, but none of my friends could afford the sub fee so I had to play with out them which really bummed me out! Personally, Guild Wars 2 is my MMO, but my friends have already said they'll get ...  more

Free to play ruins most games. There is nothing worse in an mmo than listening to people wine about what the devs should add or take out when you know the complaint is likely coming Fromm a person that doesn't even pay for the game. The spoiled brat menta...  more

Sadly this hasn't changed my stance on that particular studio, I actually predicted this would happen although a bit later than i had expected. My argument still stands as follows.
These developers saw a huge fan base and an opportunity to make some...  more

With the sub fee dropped I plan to check it out mainly just to see all the different areas of Tamriel fleshed out.
That said, while I used to play MMOs a lot before I really dislike them now. They sacrifice so much story and immersion to accommodate...  more

I wish to play that world and its quests as a single player game, or in LAN with friends. But not with thousands of others. Maybe I will buy the game but I'm much more interested in ES6... If the rumors are not true and it will not be played in Aegonia.

I'm sure there will be an in game store. There aren't many games out there that are free-to-play and free to enhance. I eagerly anticipated the arrival of ESO and much like many other fans, I was disappointed. It's a great game when it comes to MMO standa...  more

Yes I second that and hope that this doesn't mean we get a Fallout MMO. I want my games to be MY Story. FPS might be fun as a team, but RPGs never benefit from a dozen people doing the same stuff alongside me on screen.

Going free to play just means it's as unsuccessful as every overly hyped MMO and will continue to be so while WoW still reigns in strong with a massive fan base. TES is not and will never be effective as an MMO. It defies what the series is based on... TH...  more
