Glitches, Patches and Updates do they work?

  • Im an avid RPG Player and have played the last three instalments of the elder scrolls thoroughly enjoying all of them. Ive also played through all the other Bethesda creations and now feel i understand the basic problems that arise in such a massive gametype.

    So starting to play Skyrim i was ready and prepared for the usual glitches that come with a Bethesda title. After a week of playing the game i still had to have any major glitches and with only crashing a couple of times i thought that Bethesda had actual pulled out all the stops and produced a near perfect RPG title. Purely out of curiosity i jumped online to see if people where having any problems of the own and was taken aback at the number of quite serious issues people where experiencing.

    I was pleased as punch to then find out Bethesda was already on the case with the updates and i unconciously updated the first two updates bethesda released. I noticed a couple of changes but because i hadnt had any of the major issues it was kind of water off a ducks back i just continued enjoying this excellent title. Reading up more i found people were having even bigger issues with the updates backwards dragons, game killing quest faults, magic resistance failure, basic graphics and one of the biggest problems lag in the frame rate.

    The Magic resistance problem did hit me and being a mage i found it quite difficult to do quite a few quests due to not having any magical protection what so ever so when i heard update 1.3 was due for release i though at last i will be able to start dealing the pain to the realm of skyrim again.

    Minutes after downloading update 1.3 i fired up my save and continued my game only to be hit with some of the worst lag. Not once have i had it through 150+ hrs of play until the "new" update.

    Has anyone else had this where the new updates have actually made your experience worse?

    It hasnt put me off playing this immense title as i understand that you always encounter problems with games of its size and complexity. But hope that Bethesda can find a solution that helps everyone out.

    @McNuggle
    I'm guessing your on ps3? If you start a new game after patch 1.3 is installed it actually seems to be running fine.

    I have taken a hiatus from the game... I can only play about an hour before lag prevents me from playing. I was wanting try to finish up the DB quest since I put them off for so long. (I didnt want them killing folks for side quests)
