The Crazy One- Prologue: Witty Escape

  • So, I was picking herbs and catching bugs near the border of Skyrim for my alchemy class. I want to be the best alchemist Nirn has ever seen! As I was chasing a Blue Dartwing, I heard stomping. I paused and got a bit jumpy so I hid behind a quite large tree. As the stomping comes to a halt, I overheard a conversation. Out of curiosity, I took a peek and saw Ulfric Stormcloak, The Ulfric Stormcloak, and a blonde stormcloak soldier.

"Damn those Imperial scums! We were not expecting an ambush strategy from them."says the stormcloak soldier who is clearly out his breath and should take a sit.

"Well Ralof, atleast we manage to escape." replied Ulfric as he tapped Ralof's shoulder.

Then few seconds later, I saw a galloping horse pop out of the trees behind the duo. I almost squealed but manage to control myself.

"Get out of the way!" shouted the man riding the steed.

Then as he passed the duo, an arrow flew from a bush into the back of the horse and straight through its forehead, killing it swiftly. The horse fell down and so did the man. A dozen of Imperial soldiers began to come out of the bushes, putting Ulfric, Ralof and the man, who seems to have trouble getting up due to the horse lying on his abdomen, in a corner. Poor guy, that horse must have weigh more than his momma. Hahahaha!!!

Then everything went blurry and I fell into darkness.

I am now awake but feel a little dizzy and the back of my head hurts like oblivion.

"We could have gotten away if it weren't for you!" Ralof argued

"Alright, alright. I'm sorry. But I shouldn't be in here." the guy replied

"You, Imperial. You look like a mess with those dreadlocks and those black eye shadows. Are you some kind of mage?"

"No! I just love this look. Right now, I'm an alchemist in training."

"Alchemist in training huh? What were you doing behind that tree then?"

"Well, um. I was foraging for my alchemy class."

"You were foraging? and now you're in chains. Hahaha! Is this how the Imperials impose justice?"

    Ralof kept murmuring to himself.

I notice that Ulfric's mouth was covered to restrain him from using his Thu'um which I heard was used against High King Torygg. My alchemist teacher, who happens to be a very beautiful Nord (wink, wink), told me about the Thu'um. It was an interesting subject for me and so I read more about it from my teacher's collection of books.

Then we entered Helgen. I remembered that I still haven't payed my debt in the inn. As we were entering the square, people began watching, even that little brat. That brat once stole my sweetrolls which I never payed for, actually. I think his name was Fafnir. Probably an assassin's name. I mean, who steal sweetrolls?

"Looks like this is the end of the line." Ralof stated as the carriage stops.

We got out of the cart and fall in line. I looked around for an escape route. There were almost none. The soldiers were wielding bows so I can't just run away. Boy, this is looking bad for me.

They then started calling the names of the captives. The man riding the horse was Lokir from Rorikstead. Rorikstead, I heard there were some dark daedra conspiracy about that small town. Anyway, the guy mindlessly tried to ran away. He was shot down by an arrow to the back. It was fun to watch though, as he tries to escape without a plan. I love watching dumb people make a fool of themselves and falling to their doom.

"You, Imperial. What's your name?" asked the Imperial soldier

"Piero Ludovico from Leeyawin." I lied hoping a pardon can take place.

The soldier told Tullius about the name thing but he told them to put me with the others! This is not good nor reasonable. I got to think fast or I'll die a lonely man.

"Hey, you. General Tulips!. Do you know who I am?" I stepped towards him and Ulfric as I say this. I tried to keep cool and look harmless like a little Khajiit.

"How dare you mock me! You are a rebel. A soldier whose mind was twisted by the words of a false king."

"Well, I think you have a point" I say this as I walk myself slowly between him and Ulfric. "But look into my beautiful blue eyes. Look at how-"

A strange sound echoes from the distance. Everyone got distracted and looked up to the sky. I took this opportunity to grab Tullius' sword from its sheath and sliced Ulfric's chains in half. He removed the cover from his mouth, took a deep breath and released his Thu'um. . I saw a force that emerge from his mouth. It was like a strong wind but more powerful. The Imperial soldiers along with Tullius flew away from their place. The other soldiers who witness his power ran in terror.

    Then something else happened.

A dragon, a real life dragon with scales black as night flew over Helgen. I saw its body as it soared above us. It was as if I was looking into a void. It smashed through the roofs and scorched men and women into a crisp. It burned down houses and strike fear not only to the inhabitants but to us as we fled the town. I think that was the most terrifying event that happened and will happen in my life.

Me, Ulfric, Ralof, and a few other stormcloaks tries to escape through the front gate. The falling debris from a nearby tower separated me and Ulfric from the others. We ran quickly as we can away from Helgen while the others find a different way out. I looked back and saw the dragon, it was relentlessly spitting out fire from its mouth. I rubbed my eyes and bit my lips to check if I was dreaming. I really wish this is just a dream. I hope this is just a side effect from the small sip of skooma I took before I went foraging.

Unfortunately, I am not. Dragons have returned. My hands are shaking, my heart is pounding, and I'm questioning my sanity.

Who then can stop the dragons? Who has the power to save Nirn from these monstrosities?
