Living As We Are...

  • *~Living As We Are~*

O' Reigning skies, look over the withering trees
    Hear the misty river's cries
Storms of pain, have laid their mark
This horizon now fading, under the twilight

Hearts filled with desire, once leapt in joy
The spring birds, they sang soul melodies
Now a desert green, left to rot and alone
    An unfulfilled wish, nothing more

    The fish float blind, motionless
Bones of long ago, fizzle to dust
    The journeyman wanders searching
Eyes hollow, feet in oceans of ash

They watch from beyond, far from reach
All our silent cries, every passing moment
Left are we, alas to search in each other
Living as we are, watching days fade

I must pass, for the river soon would sink
The wanderer lingers, now taking my place
The dying sun calls to me, one last solace
My still heart now stirs....one last beat

It's nice to see some poetry for a change.
One line for me paints a powerful picture.
    The fish float blind, motionless.
