Agony

When I first entered this family... the dark family... I was nothing but a lad... stuck with a old hag who had that damned lease on me. I was letting her tug on it too much. Yeah... A bit too much. She was obsessed with some god named Talos... what a stupid name for the same hero type that I read over and over. She pray to him almost everyday... and when I don't lower my head with her, she'd beat me with long strips of leather. It's actually more of a embarrassment to her, and she appears so weak when I don't flinch. Sometimes I act like it actually hurt, so she'll quickly stop. At least she's was the least of the reasons why I made such a mess. Nobody can clean up the red rum.

"Reper? Nice of you to visit us again. Here to help the shop, I presume?", spoke the innocent Genni. She's is... or was... about my age. I visit Genni and her lover, Jerig, to mostly chat on rumors and help them with their alchemy shop. She opened it a year ago after her pa died of poison from a frostbite-spider. Ironic, right?

I sometimes watch Genni work on the potions. She wasn't a full out expert on the skill, but she know all the basics. I also picked up a few tricks which I plan to test out on my spare time. If I have the spare time. The hag named Aunt still hold a firm lease on my hobbies, my clothes, my actions, even on my own future.

This day, I spot something that caught my full attention from my thoughts. Genni and Jerig put their lips together and made a plucking sound when they separate. I never saw a kiss before, only read about it in books. They exchanged eachother words that brighten their faces and spirits. Then they remembered that I'm also present.

"Pardon us, Reper", Jerig rubs the back of his prickly yellow head. Genni blushes and went back to her brewing. Jerig just turn and occupied the front counter. I can barely see red rising in his tinged cheeks.

"Hey, Reper. It's getting dark, maybe you should get back home", Genni spoke after an hour of the kiss. I didn't spoke and opened the door and disappeared into the dusk that shines through the doorway. I'm not afraid of the night nor the creatures that lurks around. I would in fact love to explore the area at the time, but the hag will just die trying to beat me. I approached my home at the edge of town. A Stormcloak banner waves above it.

I creaked open the front door, expecting the hag to be praying to the altar. The first thing I noticed is that a thick pool of red liquid was peering around a corner to the kitchen. I impulsively paced to there, without thinking what I was gonna saw. The hag's body spreads across the wooden floor, her face expression frozen with shock. A greenish empty bottle was tight in her cold hands. She couldn't take being old. Being weak.

I was about to turn and call for the guards outside, but then I see a note neatly folded on the dining table. It said on the front, For Reper, my nephew. I open it and it said the following:

"Reper, when you find this, I'm sure am dead. I couldn't take in the fact that I'm old and too weak. I am sorry if I was harsh on you, but may I ask you to bury me in the woods with flowers and a blade in my hands.

You may now go out to the world and fight for this country's independence from that damned empire. Gather yourself some stories, make friends with the cloaks. Go to Windhelm and join their ranks. I know you have potential to fight the cursed red Legion. Fight for Skyrim, and for Talos!

                                                  Your Honorable Aunt,

                                                                       Lillian Cold-Throat"

I couldn't believe it... she's wanting me to fight for some stupid god and join the smelly Stormcloaks. She also got the nerves to expect me to bury her as if she's some hero from a tale that the drunks would tell. That's when I see the dagger on the table. A thrill of thoughts burst into my head. They felt like I locked them away for years, all saving and building up for this moment. To separate her ugly head from her boned body. I done so with rapid beats coming from my chest. I grit my teeth tight that I end up replacing it with a large smile of dominance. I can feel her veins and flesh as the blade forcefully slide right through them. I slobbered on her back while doing so.

When the whole ugly thing was off, I planted it on the pointy tip of the shrine to stupid Talos. I feel a sense of creativity and excitement when I done this to her. It felt amazing... as if I just found my life talent. I clenched my blood stained fists. I started making a sound that was rarely made from me. Laughter.

After who knows how long I stare at my work of art slowly bleeding, I couldn't help myself but... want to explore more of this new feeling. I pulled on gloves to cover the blood on my hands, and hid the dagger under my sleeve. The first place I paced for is the alchemy shop. Genni already closed and locked it, since it is now completely dark. I love this feeling. To wonder around at the dead of night, visiting friends.

I thought of a prank that will make both me and my friend Jerig bawling with laughter. I walk toward their door and knocked four times and ran around the corner. As I expected, Jerig opens it and checks around the front porch. He had such a tired face that I can see it from the shadows. He shrugged to himself and closed the door. I muffled back up to it and knocked four times again. This time a tint louder. I dashed for some snowberry bushes to hide in. The door opens again, Jerig pokes his head out to look around. This time he's getting irritated. He doesn't see anyone, and closes the door again. I muffled up to it, and this time I pound on the wood four times. Instead of running to hide, I hid next to the door. Against the stone wall.

This time the door busts outward, followed by Jerigyr stomping out and holding an odd device in his arms. He aims towards the opposite side of the door. I took the chance and grabbed a rusty shovel, then I hit the brute at the back of the head. He just stood there for a second, that it made me worry that I didn't hit him hard enough. That is until his body plops forward. I knocked him out. I next checked the inside of the store, Genni wasn't there. She must be in the inn or at one of her friends. Either way, it gives me man-time with her lover. I smirk with a idea in my head.

    ...

I sat down in the store's bedroom, fidgeting with the thought of Jerig waking up... tied to the wall. I see his head moved after the suspenseful stillness. My heart leaps when his eyes are slowly opening. I faintly laugh when he spoke.

"Reper? What are you doing in my h...", he tried to move from his position. The knot on the rope is working well. "W-what the? What's the meaning of this?!?", Jerig raises his low voice higher. A sign of rising fear from a brute such as him. I jump down from the drawer I was sitting on. I smirk at the look of realization on his face. He knows the answer.

"Hi friend", is the first thing I said to him.

"Reper... whatever I did... I'm sure you're misunderstanding!"

"Already, you're whining like a woman who's about to be violated"

"Please... don't do this, Reper. This isn't right!"

"Oh, where did Genni's proud and strong lover go? Surely I picked the wrong guy", I mocked as I observe the device he was holding earlier. He sees it.

"No... no... no... no...", he mumbles while trembling. I aimed like he did and pulled up a lever. Almost instantly a small, thick arrow struck the side of the bed.

"Wow... is this a crossbow or something?", I observe the device.

"Please... Reper. Let me go, I won't tell anyone. I swear to Talos!"

I started bawling with laughter. I nearly fell over my knees. "T-to Talos?!? Ha!". I kept laughing as Jerig kept shaking. He's now sweating as bad as a cloak. I searched through some chests and founded more bolts for the bow. This will be fun. It was hard to pull back the elastic string thingy, but I managed to get used to it. I aim at Jerig.

"Please... Reper... n...", his plead was interrupted by a shot of pain in his restrained leg. Jerig's screams were loud. It reminds me of the hag nagging at me. I picked up some rags and stuffed them into his mouth. It easily blocked out the sound. He then stares at me through tears. My heart raced again like before. With the hag's head.

I reloaded and aim for his arms, but I missed the shot. I stepped up to him. He was still screaming and begging for me to stop through the gag. I set the tip of the bolt in the middle of his hand. He tried to struggle off, but the rope restrained him so. I pulled the lever and some blood splattered on to my face. Jerig shuts his eyes tight while biting on the gag and yelling in agony. I reloaded and without hesitation, done the same to his other hand. Both of his hands are stuck into the wooden wall.

"Ah-he...", I gasped out as another idea hits me. I was thinking about butchers. I grabbed my dagger from the drawer. I rub the tip of it along Jerig's stomach, imagining a line being drawn. I then look at the brutes face one last time... it was drenched in tears... I thought maybe... maybe... I could continue. I stood up and stare at him in the eyes. I set the tip of the steal against his closed eyes. I used my other hand to force them open.

I observed his pupils, they were large and voidful. For some reason I whispered to myself, "Sithis". It sounds like I'm somewhat related to the word or name. I then shoved the blade into the eye, right in the center. Oh, the scream of agony.

    ...

I hid behind the store counter, waiting for Genni to return. I left her a surprise in her room. I was examining her selection of different herbs and ingredients while there. I shoved some bottles aside to find a secret... small bottles of frostbite venom. I took them into my pockets in case I need them.

Minutes later, I hear the door creaking open. I held my breath, as footsteps made their way up the stairs. I followed Genni up to her room while crouching. I want her to see her love one before using her. She dropped her bottle of mead and attempts to scream. My arms wrapped around her. I forced her to stare at the carnage. You could barely recognize him. I forced her to turn towards me. Before she said my name, I planted my lips her's... then I gagged her mouth.

    ...

I made my way around Skyrim, searching for people who might know about the dark family that killed the Emperor. That is until I am approached by a cloaked man in a inn within the Rift. He gave me a note. The next thing I knew is that I'm within the Dawnstar Sanctuary, gaining new contracts from the Listener. Sinced I joined, I changed my name from "Reper Cold-Throat" to a name that the she-devil gave me... "Agony". She just thought of it after I told her my story.

As I was about to make my way up the stairs to go out for my first contract, I heard groans and moaning of people in... agony. I'm starting to like the definition and the word itself. I peeked into a room where four miserable souls are chained to the wall. They're just waiting for me to get in there and show my talent.

One of them, an old woman, was sleeping against the wall. I entered in the torture room like a troll entering it's cave home. The four prisoners ignored me, maybe they're not to anger me by looking. A set of "tools" caught my eyes and I just have to slide my fingers on them. I pulled out a interesting tool that is spiral-like with a point. I see the flames at the end of the room and had the perfect treatment for the sleeping hag.

I watched the steam and smoke rises as I pressed the red metal on her neck. She screamed like a goat, I just have to stop to catch my breathe from laughing.

"Having fun?", the Listener was leaning against the doorway. His arms crossed, but his expression neutral. I dropped the metal and slightly bowed to the professional killer in a apologetic way. Better than shakily saying sorry. The Listener only waves his hand, "It's alright, I've actually been planning to dispose them. I already got the information I need from them. You can have them all you want". He then disappears back to his quarters.

I was honored beyond levels. I picked the spiral tool up and lift the hag's eyes up. I looked deep into them. So deep that it's spiraling around my psyche. Within the pupil, I can see a pair of eyes... watching me. I knew who it was now. Sithis is watching over me. I forced her eye open with my left hand, and set the tool pointing inward at the center of her pupil. I feel so dominating and powerful, that I whispered a sentence to the old hag's ears. I can see the mark on her shoulder.

"Pray for stupid Talos, aunt". Of course I didn't mean for the hag in front of me, but I didn't care. They're same. Useless and too weak to live.

"Please. D-don't", she replied with the very definition of misery. Not enough agony though. I jabbed the tool into her eyes. Oh, the funny screams from her.
