I was talking about the original Paper Mario (the first two aren't platformers, they are turn based RPGs) :P
As far as customization goes: Every level up, you can choose to add more HP, Flower Points (basically magicka), and Badge Points (every badge gives Mario a new move or new mechanic in combat [every badge move costs Flower Points]). You can have really tanky setups, resource gouging setups, damage setups, etc.
You also get an arsenal of followers. You upgrade them through blue orbs inside of cube shaped frames. Every time you upgrade a follower, they get a new move that costs Flower Points, and all of their attacks do more damage as well.
I was just throwing an idea out there. I doubt anybody on this site plays on the N64 besides me, so it would be a bit pointless anyways. Sad, because Paper Mario is a masterpiece.

Hey now, I played and loved both of the first two Paper Mario games. Unfortunately, I don't have an N64 or a copy of the first Paper Mario anymore, but I still loved it.

I don't think so, each class is locked in their own path. You only get specializations at level 8 and 16 and there are only like 4 real skills in each one. Dragon Age 2 gives you a bit more freedom but you have respec potions you can buy at any time. And 3 well.. it does give you a bit more freedom. Still the worst of the 3 though.

It's a lot better then most games and perfectly viable. While the customization is fairly straight-forward there is a fair bit that can be done by late game, each Race brings something different, each Class can do tonnes of different things. Dragon Age: Inquisition is probably better but Origins is definitely a good game to create builds for,

By the time you are late game and have access to tons of skill points you already did all the content, you'd basically play the "build" for the DLC. Same problem with the Skyrim build that only feel like the build once you get to level 30 and have cleared 2 whole questlines.
And yeah Gollum the games are definitely worth playing but it's not like Skyrim, there aren't 100 different ways to level up and 90% of the enemies don't respawn so you can't really grind.

Darn, I can't find my brothers Origins or 2 copy anywhere. I hope I'm not missing out on a lot of the story if I start on Inquisition. I'll start playing KoA just in case...
