He's going to be Imperials, and he's going to work to undermine the Thalmor under direct orders from General Tullius. I'll explain this a bit later, but I still need reasons to hate the Thalmor, and why he might do x quest.

I like the look of your plan mate, seems like a very fleshed out character, and of course a blast to play!

Hmmm, maybe he was once a supporter but saw the light? Maybe he was brought up in a culture that rejected authority, and as the Thalmor are the main authority in Elsweyr it would breed a natural hatred. Does the hatred have to be lifelong? He could develop it while working for the Imperials - seeing the shit they inflict on their victims and Skyrim's entire population would make most people at least dislike them.

Sorry I'm having a bit of a slow moment, what do you mean by x quest again?

I’m using x quest to mean any quest, so why might he do this or that. Maybe his father was an astrologist :) yeah, lifelong is best. Are there any other reasons you can think of?

Hey guys, I was hoping I could get some help developing an idea into more interesting roleplay. I have a character, The Bloodletter, who's backstory basically a reverse Hephaestus. He was a Wood Orc who's father, the chief, threw him out of their tree immediately after being born because he was disgusted by how beautiful he was. Deebs suggested that this has the potential to be a fun trait to actually incorporate into gameplay somehow. Unfortunately, roleplay is not my strong suit so I was wondering if anyone could help me with ideas?

Unfortunately I think I'm out of ideas specific to this character. Personally I'd go with the anti-establishment subculture thing - ie grew up in a gang, but of course it's not for everyone. How do his parents feel about the Thalmor? His peers? All these things shape the opinion of someone, especially when they're growing up.

An Orc to beautiful to be looked upon? Now I've heard it all :P

Seriously though, I like the sound of this. The usual attractive route is to go down Speech and possibly Illusion (charisma and good looks often go hand in hand) to basically immitate people bending over backwards for them, or being so stricken that they do exactly as he says. It'd be interesting to see how he'd eract with other Orcs - will they have the same reaction as his father (which could be shown by being treated poorly/not being allowed into the strongholds, not being taken seriously by others so have to prove yourself etc) or will it turn into some kind of hero worship (especially from the ladies). You could RP being subjected to racism from the local Nords do to their jealousy - the women of the town suddenly fall in love with an Orc of all things. Maybe he gets randomly accosted and approached on the street (now you have a reason to talk to every civilian in a city). Some of the more gullible or stupid inhabitants of the land might see him as some kind of trick sent by the Daedra to tempt them, or maybe even lead them (having a cult dedicated to you would be fun). Any of these any good?

I just realized that I've left some major roleplay veins untapped: my hunter's reaction to Helgen, and his thoughts on the ethics of killing NPCs like bandits who don't always attack you on sight.

Any good? All of those are very good! You've given me a really good idea for the overall roleplay narrative and I'd like to use quite a few if you're ideas. The backstory is some what a "raised by wolves" trope in that after being rejected by his people he had to fend for himself the wilds of Valenwood. So despite being quite nice to look at, his personality is a bit unrefined, he doesn't quite understand societies obsession with "ownership" (and therefore will casually steal on occasion), his temperament is pretty animalistic, and he's prone to violent or even just irritable behavior that becomes more and more off-putting to others the longer he remains in a society.

I'd like for his RP journey to be him trying to find a place he fits in that he can call home. I have enough wiggle room stat-wise to grab the Allure perk, and I could incorporate Agent of Dibella and Amulet of Articulation so that I'm initially very well received wherever I go. My character survived as a bounty hunter in his youth so doing the quests required to purchase homes in most cities fits perfectly with how he would attempt to gain favor with the citizens of Skyrim. While his uncivilised ways could easily be his undoing in most places. Start by settling down in Whiterun...then meet Nazeem and get chased out for assaulting him. Head to Riften where your casual thievery gets Hired Thugs sent after you, then to Windhelm where the atmosphere of institutionalised racism makes you feel unwelcome. Ect...through all the holds in Skyrim until you have no where left to go and have to overcome your greatest fear by approaching the Orc strongholds for sanctuary. The RP endgame could be to complete The Cursed Tribe and gain Malacath's respect so that, despite your appearance, the tribe allows you to stay with them. What do you think?

A normal person would see Helgen as a tragedy, I don't see why a Hunter would be any different. Maybe if they were the epitome of 'only the strongest survive' then they'd see a Dragon destroying a town as the natural order of things, but to me that's a stretch which would bring your character ito more Evil territory, or at least very Chaotic.

Hunters live in a survival of the fittest world - predator becomes prey, kill or be killed. Is there truly a difference between killing a Saber Cat and a Bandit? Both are incredibly dangerous, are willing to do anything to survive and will kill you if you don't kill them first. Obviously killing a person is different to an animal, but to a dedicated hunter the distinction would be less than for most people. But then again hunters never kill out of necessity, only to survive. So if a Bandit is in the way between you and your next meal, kill them. If not, pros and cons need to be weighed up.

That. Sounds. AMAZING! That's an insanely good idea if you ask me, and very poetic in a way - a perfect person Orc's quest to belong. Does his natural gift override his disadvantaged start? Awesome.

Are you planning for him to improve in his behaviour as he goes along? Maybe he realises by the end that thumping whoever you disagree with isn't as acceptable in a town as it is in a wolf pack, but the concept of 'ownership' still evades him so he still nicks shiny things. Also, how is he going to get along with the Orc's Code of Malacath? Not stealing. Don't fight unecessarily. All things he does (and may not understand). Could be tricky to be accepted by a community when you disobey their most sacred laws. Or will the Orcs relate to his outcast background and forgive him, and help him to become a better Orc (which sounds badass to me - the 'uncivilised' Orc strongholds helping him become a better person where the 'civilised' cities couldn't, raises some very dee questions).

A little question about his backstory. As he doesn't really understand possession of objects, what's his relationship with money? Ie in his bounty hunter days did he work for food and other essentials, or did he somehow figure out that clinky coins = stuff?

And thank you very much for the positive feedback :)

Hey, this my first time posting on here.

So, I recently made a Breton pillgrim/knight/healer who came into the service of Mara while living on the island of Betony. As of now they using restoration magics and mace. I am also using the Andromeda - Unique Standing Stones of Skyrim for the Ritural Stone and ordanatior. I am wondering if anyone help me flesh out the roleplay aspect.

Well "pilgrim/knight/healer" just seems to scream someone who wants to do good in the most basic sense and to help others. Being a servant of Mara even more so. Have you looked into the Maran Knights? (http://en.uesp.net/wiki/Lore:Maran_Knights)

They are, ad the short description says, controversial since they use violence to achieve peace. This might add a bit of depth to your character and have an inner conflict so to speak. Maybe this character is having trouble using means of violence to serve Mara or maybe is being pushed out by other clerics and priests because of the use of weapons and armor?

As a PS4 player I cannot quite speak to the use of Andromeda or Ordinator but I think incorporating this new Ritual stone is a bit wonky in my eyes. Mara to me would not condone a vengeful spirit at least as far as I would guess, but again a knightly order dedicated to figting in Mara's name might make this "ok" ... Maybe that could be an extension of your controversial tactics? It would make much more sense that a slain corpse would release a calming aura or maybe even some sort of warding spirit to have nearby enemies be at peace or find true mercy for their evil ways.
