I would ask, though, what quests are appropriate for this character with that mind set? Would it just be things that help individual people rather than organizations?

Thanks Raid! I couldn't get anywhere close to the synergy that you, Oneness, or Mason bring to the table but I do my best to tie things together.
I'm right there with ya though, Illusion seems like such a strange ability for a monk but I was drawing from a source that pulled it together and a class that I absolutely loved so it was easily worked into the RP.
Btw, twas a very streamlined playthrough and as my first no-crafting build I've gotta say it was non-stop action and I loved it! As soon as you put that unarmed damage together and grab that stave you're a master of martial arts. I really recommend trying that combo for yourself. Loads of fun! Thanks for the +1 and comment.

That was one thing I kind of left out of the write up that I should clarify, Taoism identifies that everyone has their own nature and balance in the world. How that correlates to others and how you maintain that balance is the individual's course.
Of course helping others find balance is much easier roleplay. For the Companions I wanted to help the Circle find that balance which was, in the long run, curing lycanthropy. The CoW was more of a quest for knowledge but quickly becomes your duty when the Psijics approach you. Of course I'd listen to another group of monks!
The Dragonborn Questline is always hard to roleplay. On one hand you have to stop Miraak but siding with Hermaues Mora was always difficult for me. Ultimately, I wanted to bring balance to Solstheim which meant taking out Miraak.
I feel like most quests you take on can be seen as helping something or someone gain the equilibrium they, at least, think they need. If you deem it unnecessary then don't do the quest, whatever it may be. I realize this is vague but it really is up to the individual player. Does this make sense?

Freaking awesome!
I love the way this build feels. I'm embarrassed to say that I didn't even know you could get unenchanted staves. I've been thinking about toying with an unarmed build, and was actually looking into your Quarra Scourge, but just might give this one a whirl instead. I love the water-flowing-around-rocks Tao approach to the game/combat--balance... awesome :D
Usually people associate Illusion magic with evil, but I think it's a fitting choice for this build seeing as Calm spells (and to a lesser extent Fear) are just the non-confrontational approach that a character like this might take to deflect confrontations. But the option for a well-deserved unarmed butt-kicking appeals to me greatly as well xD
I REALLY want to try some of the staff-work that you've been playing with. I may even go back to my Transient Sorcerer save and bring in a staff... it always bugged me a bit that you've created an awesome pure mage, and then I taint it by carrying a shield or sword in order to activate Quick Reflexes. This would also fit that build perfectly!
Again, great job on this. I'm bookmarking it to remind me that I WILL play it after I finish up all the stuff I'm currently working on ;D
