Most of you probably already know these but for the few of you that don't, here are some more tips for assassins.
Bows can be used to move your opponents into position for kills. Firing an arrow into the wall will send enemies to where it hit, whereas if an arrow hits an enemy they will go to where it was fired from. If an enemy starts to move in on your location, take out your sword and try to double back around and pull off a 6x attack on them.
Quiet casting affects shouts like Whirlwind Sprint, allowing you to silently move across the battlefield when in sneak. Slow time is great for taking out more than one opponent with backstabs in a short time. Unrelenting Force can be used to knock strong enemies from their lookout points, killing them instantly. Last of all, Bend Will works like a better version of frenzy, affecting all enemies and causing them to fight each other.
Always scout out a room before making your first kill. If you use a sword or dagger on one guy, and five more run out, you will probably die. Using Aura Whisper first lets you see all enemies in a wide radius. Take out the ones on the outside of the group first, so no-one notices they're dead. Long-range kills draw less attention.
Finally, if you're seen, alchemy is your best friend. Hitting all the nearby enemies with slow poisons and turning invisible lets you get in more surprise attacks and finish them off. If not, just take a One-Handed and a Block potion and carve them up :P
As for the Shrouded vs. Nightingale, Nightingale armour is a lot better than Shrouded, apart from the hood which is good for getting extra damage from afar and doesn't look too bad either. The rest of the Shrouded set looks awful so I just stay away from it, and if I'm not doing the Thieves Guild questline I take a few perks in Smithing to improve peerless and extreme items.

thanks for the feedback! i actually didn't know a few of these but instead of luring enemies away with bows why not just use the throw voice shout?

I suppose Throw Voice is more useful for making melee kills because you don't have to keep on switching between weapons. Most of my assassins tend not to kill many dragons because they have very little defence, so I save the souls that I do get for other shouts.

Throw Voice also attracts more attention than a simple arrow. It can lure whole groups to a location which can be helpful to avoid them, but is not that useful for an assassin
