ESO Group Update - 4/20/16

Now that I'm recovering from a nasty abscessed tooth (yikes!), I can start moving forward with implementing some of the promised changes to the group. Before doing so, I wanted to give you a quick update on the planning process.

    NOTICE BOARD

Our notice board displays our basic information, such as our preferred server, platform, and alliance. I will be updating this information as some of it is very out-of-date. LEAVE A COMMENT IF YOU WANT TO REMAIN ON THE NOTICE BOARD.

    GAME GUIDES

The group has received a lot of great feedback in the New Beginnings discussion. Check it out if you haven't read it yet. Many have expressed an interest in seeing up-to-date game guides to help improve their basic understanding of game mechanics, leveling, crafting, etc. I hear you loud and clear! In the next few days, I will be writing up what I hope will become a Weekly Game Guide series. There's a lot of content that could be included in a guide, so LEAVE A COMMENT TO SUGGEST WHAT GUIDES YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE POSTED FIRST.

    CHARACTER PROFILES

I am so excited about this! As we all know, character building for an MMO is a difficult process. It takes a while to get our characters to a higher level, and Zenimax (as with all MMO developers) will occasionally change skill abilities, nerfing some and buffing others. Fear not! I've come up with a possible solution that will allow us to show off our characters and explain how we play them!

Enter: Character Profiles. A character profile will straddle the line between an RP profile and a character build. The profile will provide pictures of our character, backstory and motivation, alliance preference, and alignment. It will ALSO provide a listing of skills, gear, mundus stone, drinks/food, and enchantments. It will also include a brief tutorial on how you play your character (i.e., proper rotation of skill usage, fighting against groups or solo enemies, fighting while solo or grouped with others). Because this format is short and succinct, any changes or updates to our character's profile will be an easy, stress-free process. EDIT: I will provide a basic template that will help you create your profile.

With that said, I do plan on writing up a few character builds for the classes that I have played, which to date only includes two: a sorcerer damage-dealer and a templar healer. These builds will include information in stages: levels 1-10, 11-25, 26-V1, Veteran leveling, and End game. This way, someone could start building their characters right from scratch and take them to end-game. BUT, this is last on my list of things to do.

Well, there you have it. If there is anything you would like to see added, please drop a comment to let me know. As mentioned above, leave a comment if you want to remain on the notice board and if there is a particular game guide you would like to see posted first.

    See you in Tamriel,

I'm very excited about character profiles, will there be some sort of template or guide to follow?

Yes. I should have added that I will be producing a template to follow. Thanks for catching that!

By notice board you mean character registry right? If so, sure, put my info up there.

I've been meaning to ask, have you managed to work out how a site guild would work? I know you've said about you being the overall master and then having sub leaders for each platform and server but how would we go about that? I ask because this is something I'm keenly interested in happening

Yep. I should have said registry, but the notice board (for guild info) also needs updating.

Thanks for the comment, Golden! I've been having some fruitful conversations with cross-faction, cross-platform guild leaders about their organization and structure. It's complicated, but very do-able. I'll be moving on this as soon as I get further info.

I've been trying to get a straight answer on this for half an hour and still no luck. Does anyone know if a player from the PC EU Megaserver can do dungeons or trials with another player from the PC NA Megaserver?

Unfortunately, your EU characters cannot be used on the NA server. However, you could roll a character on the NA server while keeping your EU characters.

So playing in a dungeon is the same thing as playing in an area. That's a pity.
