I noticed in the Story Corner alot of the stories followed gameplay and questlines and was wondering if there were any requirements to follow for writing a characters adventure/backstory?

No requirements, you can go ahead and do it. You can use actual quests, or quests that you make up

It's decent of you to ask Derek - but there's no particular requirements. Just join the Group and start writing!

You'll find we are pretty chilled about things around here  And, welcome to the site BTW

His story is amazing.  A shame he hasn't uploaded anything recently.

A lot of people follow game questlines because that gives them a nice skeleton to follow in their story.  Of course, some end up trailing off into no-man's land in the course of writing.  Plus, I think a lot of people are also writing as they play, so, naturally, they're going to do various quests.
