That's the thing. I haven't encountered any lore really explaining it. So I always theorized that it is their innate magickal ability. Every creature, every being has magicka, being poured into their pores by the sun. Just like Bretons are inherently resistant to magic, so maybe trolls can inherently use their magicka for regeneration. It's just s thought, but it might push you in some direction.

I am quite new to the lore world but the topic of flora and fauna within the Elder Scrolls univerese has always fascinated me. I'd love to contribute with "Spriggans: Among the Tree People."

Heh, I want to participate as well. Could try out either the Charus or the Frostbite Spiders. If both of those are taken, I could also try the bears ar well. Either one is fine.

    If Charus:

title = "And You Thought Skeevers Were bad: An Examination on the Charus"

    else if Frostbite Spider:

title = "Crawlers that make your skin Crawl"

    else if Bears:

title = "Tundras, Taigas, and Bears! Oh My!"

    else:

        exit()

Not really. Homunculi definitely are an interesting subject but they don't really fall into the category of creatures, with habbits, needs and such.

    That's the question, dear Legion.

I thought of something, could some of the dwarves had actually just soultrapped themselves in their animunculi? They almost always seem to have a soul gem and most are filled with sould in them. The Centurions, spheres, and ballista are able to give you grand sould gems. the game has shown us that partial soul trapping is possible... Is it also odd how nobody know how the machines actually work? Sure, steam is used to generate energy, but how do they keep their water supply from emptying and how do they continue to heat up that water, even in the sheer cold of skyrim? I feel that the Dwarves either used their souls or other animal sould to create the energy and autonomy of their robots. If I am not mistaken, wasnt the brass tower fueled by a constant fuel of souls?

Crabtacular! Was hoping someone would try to go for these little critters.

So far all of the ones you listed are open. So I'll write you down for Chaurus then? There's actually quite a lot of interesting things one could look at, from their influence on the Falmer to the fact that the common Chaurus you see (if you don't have Dawnguard installed specifically) is actually just their larval form.

Ooo this event sounds like a lot of fun! Count me in for Ice Wraiths! I always thought they were kind of fascinating.

:D love the idea of a bestiary on here!

    Noted.

I always wondered why those things were called wraiths. Are they the souls/remnants of those who die to frostbite? Or something else entirely and if this is the case then why use the same name as for some of the spirits we found in Cyrodiil?

This is nice!!, Hey I wish to contribute to this, can I be annoted to do the following about creatures, I really like those little creatures, of course I will do it as a blog post lore friendly and I will research most I can about it, following the rules of this topic, a little decription of each, those mostly appears on ESO, but I'm pretty sure are part of the whole Nirn fauna:

    - Echatere and Echalette:

"Echatere are tusked creatures with pointed hooves and large antlers. They are found mainly in Wrothgar and serve the Orcs as livestock and beasts of burden. Those found in the wild are usually hostile. Young echateres are called echalettes", source: UESP

    (my gameplay screenshot)

     - Alik'r Dune-Hound

    (my gameplay screenshot)

"Game is scarce amid the dunes of the Alik'r Desert, and tracking prey across the sands is no simple task. The Redguards often describe hunger with the saying "as starved as a hunter with no Dune-Hound" for good reason—these loyal beasts are experts at finding food and water in the shifting sands when no one else can.",  source: in gameplay ESO
