Darrien Riuki Journal One: Goodbye Helgen

  • Before long the wagon was pulled into Helgen, it seemed that the entire city was built solely for military purposes.

The wagon stopped next to another one in the center of the town. Me and the other prisoners got off and a guard started calling names. First Ulfric and Ralof, then the third prisoner tried to make a run for it, but ended up with an arrow in his back.

I guess he was destined to go to Sovngarde today.

Next it was my turn, even though my name wasn't even on the list and yet they seem determined to to kill me. Strangely enough one of the guards, Hadvar I think his name was, actually seemed sorry about what was about to happen to me.

The first rebel died before the priestess finished our final rites, I can't believe he volunteered to go first.

    Then it was my turn.

I walked up to the executioner and knelt down. The executioner raised his axe. I closed my eyes, and once again I was flying on black wings, but this time there was a town beneath me. There was a crowd and someone was on their knees. I landed on  a tower and let out a deafening roar.

I opened my eyes and there, right in front of me, was a living breathing dragon. A dragon!

The executioner was dead and chaos was now reigning in the small town. I ran into a tower and before I knew what was happening I was fumping onto a roof of a house and following Hadvar into the fortress.

We fought our way out and, after watching the dragon fly away, he told me to go to Riverwood and also that I should join the Legion in Solitude.

I stand still for a long time thinking about what I should do next before turning around looking back at Helgen and saying the first words I've said since I killed the dunmer.

    "Goodbye Helgen"

Then I start walking towards Riverwood. If the dragons are coming back then my ancestor's land is in danger, and I'm going to do all I can to stop them, no matter the cost.
