Zakary the Unknown: At Kynesgrove

  • "Who is he?" asked Delphine as soon as she saw me, her hand reaching for her sword. "Don't worry, he's not going to harm us. His name is Zakary, he decided to accompany me here." replied Anya. "Just don't get in our way." "What's her problem?" I whispered. Anya smiled and shrugged. We walked into the small town and looked around. There was a small inn and two fields. The entire place looked deserted. I walked towards the inn to see if there was anyone inside. "DRAGON!!!" All three of us spun around to face where the noise had come from. A woman was running down a hill towards us. "RUN! There's a dragon up there!" she screamed, sprinting past us. "That's our cue." said Delphine before charging up the hill. Anya and I followed her. We got to the top and quickly hid behind a rock. A huge black dragon was speaking with another dragon. Delphine stepped out of her hiding place and charged towards the dragons. The black one flew away leaving the other behind. It hit Delphine with a lazy motion of one of his scaly paws. She flew through the air and landed some distance away. Anya launched several fireballs at the beast. They all hit their target. The wyrm roared and looked at Anya. She started running and shooting more fireballs. I looked at my surroundings searching for a vantage point. I ran towards a nearby tree when the dragon wasn't looking. I started to climb, hoping the dragon wouldn't notice me. I stopped about half way up and stepped onto what looked like a stable branch. I slowly walked towards the dragon. I took out my bow and readied an arrow. I aimed at the huge beast and waited for the right moment. Anya shot an ice spike into the dragon's jaw. It lifted it's head and roared in pain. I shot the arrow right into the wyrm's cheek. It looked in my direction and Shouted. The magical flames started to burn the tree. I threw my bow away and knelt down to keep my balance. With one hand I searched for my daggers and with my other I held onto the branch, my eyes fixed on the beast. I grabbed my daggers and put one in each hand. I slowly stood up taking care not to fall. The tree was starting to sway. I could here it creaking. I walked back to the trunk. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. I ran forwards and jumped off the branch. I landed on the dragon's neck and plunged the daggers into the beast's eyes. It roared again and shook it's head violently. I fell and landed on my back. I yelled in pain and lay there. Anya summoned all of her energy and shot another ice spike into the dragon's chest. It fell backwards and started to burn from the inside. A strange light was coming out of the dead beast. The light floated through the air and went into Anya. Soon the light was gone and all that was left of the dragon was it's skeleton with my daggers sticking out of the eye sockets. I slowly got up and walked towards my knives. They crumbled to dust when I touched them. "I guess I'll need to get another pair," I murmured. "What was that?" I added more loudly, looking at Anya. "Well, it turns out I'm something called the Dragonborn," she answered. "I absorb dragon souls and them use them to against them in Shouts." "You can explain more later. Right now I just want to sleep." "You really are the Dragonborn then." said Delphine. "I told I was" Anya replied. "I'll help you in any way I can." said Delphine. Anya smiled and walked towards me. "Lets get to Windhelm. We can rest there." When we got to Windhelm we were stopped by one of the guards at the gate. "Halt! Who goes there?" "Travelers searching for a place to stay for the night." Anya called out. "No one may enter the city after dark." "And why is that?" "Rumour has it that the young Aretino boy is trying to summon the Dark Brotherhood." "We aren't with the Brotherhood." "I'm going to need some proof." Anya took a piece of paper out of her bag and handed it to the guard. "I'm sorry for the inconvenience," he said bowing. "You're free to enter." He opened the gate and let us pass. "Well, that must be the inn. Come on, unless you have a house here as well." I said with a grin. Anya laughed and jumped up the stairs to the inn. We rented a room and ordered a couple of ales and steaks. Anya explained all about her adventures and how she had found out she was the Dragonborn. She spoke about High Hrothgar, Bleak Falls Barrow and several other places she had visited. Anya was fast asleep. I quietly slipped out of the room and left the inn. I walked the streets trying to hear any chanting. I stopped outside a house and put my ear on the door and listened. "Sweet mother, sweet mother..." This was the place! I picked the lock and entered. I crept up the stairs and turned into another room. "You're here!"

    Thanks :-)

The reason I chose to make him climb the tree is because he's never seen a dragon fight before. He can't remember anything of his past so he doesn't even know about them. The only other dragon he's seem was Alduin in Helgen and he ...  more
