Zakary the Unknown: At the Bannered Mare

  • "That's how I ended up in that camp. Why were you there?" I asked. "My story's not nearly as interesting as yours. I needed some money so I asked Hulda if there were any jobs I could do. She directed me to the camp." "Here are your drinks. Zak, that'll be 10 septims. Anya, don't worry about it Mikael said he would pay for it." Saadia placed the mugs on the table. "Call me when you want your food." I dropped the coins into her hands. Anya sighed. "He just doesn't know when to stop. It's as if he thinks I can't hear him when he goes on about Carlotta." "Sounds like someone should teach him a lesson." "Be my guest." I took a gulp of my ale and got to my feet. "Why don't you just leave Anya and all the other women in Whiterun alone." "Why should I?" "I'll only ask you one more time." "Then what will you do?" I took a deep breath and looked around. This wasn't getting anywhere. I punched right in the nose. He stumbled backwards, tripped onto Uthgerd's lap and spilled her drink. "Get off me!" she shot to her feet. "You'll regret that." She was pointing and walking towards me now. I dodged her first blow but caught the second in my stomach. I stumbled backwards and leant against the wall. Mikael was on his feet again. He grabbed a bottle from the nearest table and threw it at Uthgerd. She ducked and the bottle hit Sinmir. He turned around and punched Uthgerd in the back. Soon everyone in the tavern was fighting. I grabbed Mikael and pushed him against the wall. "Will you leave them alone?" "Fine, just let me go!" I punched him and threw him towards Brenuin, who had only just entered. I jumped over the counter and quickly hid behind it with Anya, Hulda and Saadia. "We should get out of here." I said to Anya. She nodded. I grabbed her arm and we ran towards the door. "Well, I guess we won't be sleeping there tonight." I joked. "Don't worry. I've got a place we can stay." We walked towards Breezehome. "Hey, I know this may seem a bit weird given that we just met, but I need to go to Kynesgrove to investigate the return of the dragons and I would like it if you came too. After all it won't to have another pair of hands around to help." Anya said. "Sure, there's no reason not to go." I fell asleep on the sofa late that night. I was thinking about the journey I was about to set out on. I also found myself thinking about the dragons too. About the one in Helgen.
