Zakary the Unknown: On the Trail

  • I woke up early that morning and walked towards the bridge. I dug up the amulet I had hidden there. I entered the Sleeping Giant Inn. "What will it be today?" Orgnar asked me. "I'll take a loaf of bread, some cheese and a bottle of mead." "Here." I dropped a pouch of coins into his hand and left. I placed the food in my bag and entered the Riverwood Trader. "Here's the blanket you wanted," said Camilla when she saw me. "Is there any chance you're going to tell me your going?" "I don't know yet. Thanks for the blanket." I tied the blanket to my bag and walked to where the breton woman had been killed. After I had left the previous evening Faendal had took the body back to the village to bury her. I walked in the direction the bandits had run in. After a while the tracks led to the river. I silently cursed. They had gone in the river to through me off their trail. I threw my bag to the other side of the river and then swam after it. I followed the river until I was on the road to Whiterun. I opened the bottle of mead and took a gulp. I was putting the bottle back in my bag when I noticed something in the corner of my eye. I took out my bow and slowly walked towards it. I readied an arrow. I was shot the arrow at it. Nothing happened. I looked closer. It was a mud crab. I knelt down and took the arrow out of its body. I sighed and looked around. I wasn't getting anywhere and I was so on edge even mud crabs were making me jump. I kicked the corpse into the river. Then I saw another one and another. The bandits had come this way! I followed the trail until nightfall. I decided not to light any fires in case the bandits spotted me. I sipped the bread in half and devoured along with the cheese. I drank some more mead. I lay on the ground and tried to get to sleep. The sun was only just coming up when I awoke. I slowly sat up and rolled the blanket up. I got to my feet and stretched. That's when I saw it. In the distance was the bandits camp. I had found them.
