Freya - Dragon...

  • I made some potions and had to decided what I was going to do regarding this matter of dragons... I thought about how proud my parents would be... Their little Freya slaying such a huge beast.

    Let’s do it.

As I was leaving Whiterun to meet up with the troops I decided to weave in a few more layers into my armour as the main chest area was fraying which was rather concerning.

As I exited Whiterun I saw a trail of smoke, looks like I was heading that-a-way. I arrived at the watch tower which was half alight, it reminded me of what had happened that night... When I heard that beast, when I lost my parents... I thought about turning around and going back to Whiterun... I did not. I listened to Irileth's, the elf that was the Jarl's housecarl, she told us to search around for survivors. After a short time we came across a guard who told of the dragon slaughtering his two fellow guardsmen. Just as he finished speaking we heard a massive roar... The dragon attack was eminent.

We all gathered together and watched the dragon fly through the mountains, heading towards us at a great speed. We all prepared our bows and crossbows, positioned ourself behind various types of cover and let hail on the arrows. We spent a lot of our time dodging fireballs and continous streams of fire. After several minutes, and at least several hundred arrows and bolts, the great beast was grounded. Some of the men charged in... They were killed quickly by the beast. I was placing arrows in the beasts skull but they seemed like nothing to him, I rummaged around and pulled several poisons out of my pack that should hopefully help. I shot an arrow into the beasts eye in hope of the poison spreading thoroughly into its blood stream. It worked, I saw it start to have a fit and shot two more arrows into it's mouth this time. I waited for a minute before looking back around the corner and saw the beast had fallen into a slumber, Irileth plunged her sword through it's head, it slumped to the floor, dead.

We approached it, some kind of power came from it and seemed to enter me, I felt weak. I dropped to the floor. Next thing I remember is the remaining guards around me asking if I was ok. I was helped to my feet and then felt a word on the tip of my tongue that I just couldn't get out...

    Myself after the dragon attack.

    "Fus!" I yelled uncontrollably.

    "Dragonborn!" All the mean shouted.

They told me stories and tales of the powers of the dragonborn and the feats those in my feet had achieved. This was outstanding, maybe this was my destiny, Freya the Dragonslayer. Now that's got a catch to it.

I now felt a lot more competent in my fighting prowess. I talked to the men again and asked them if they knew of any small groups of bandits located around Whiterun, they pointed me towards a small skooma cove that was around the side of Whiterun. I headed off in the general direction hunting several deer on the way, I was managing to get consistent neck shots on them, it was time to see if that skill was transferable to killing bandits.

I approached the camp and saw two bandits, the best way to handle this situation seemed to be to climb up the rocks atop of the cover where I could pick the bandit who was patrolling the area off, and yet remain hidden to his comrade who was sitting on a bench inside the cove. I positioned myself, laid down two arrows beside myself, I planned to send one arrow into his calf, and another into the back of his neck if he fell down, or if he remained up, the back of his head. I picked up first arrow and prepared to nock it, I watch the bandit bend over as he begun to chop wood, I let go of my arrow and watched it fly into his calf, he screamed in pain as he dropped to the floor, bent over on all fours. Without having to think about it I had already nocked by arrow and had it lined up to his neck, it shot towards him at an outstanding pace, like nothing I had seen before. This was all most likely a placebo effect however. His friend ran over to him to see if he was still sleeping, bad choice, I dipped my arrow in poison, had it lined up ready to penetrate his back, I shot the arrow, he turned around and it went straight through his fur hides and stuck straight into his heart, that couldn't have gone any better.]

I felt like I had done something good, by myself, the men had helped a lot with the dragon but somehow I thought it was going to be portrayed that I was the hero of that day, I would have slaughtered the beast in cold blood, well, I'm sure we shall find out soon enough.

I wondered into the cove and grabbed anything of interest, a few bottles of skooma that for evidence of my raid on their camp, if you know what I mean.

I headed off towards the guard post north of Whiterun to tell them there was no need to worry about the bandits anymore. However it seems I spotted to mages having a duel with each other, I hid behind a rock and watch the two battle it out for several minutes until the one casting ice dropped to the floor burning alive. I decided to approach the mage and ask her how she was after the fight, before I could even get close to her she started to cast a stream of fire at me, I dodged out of the way and got back to my rock. What lovely people these are. I found a small stone lying on the ground, peered above the rock and saw where the mage was, I ran out from my cover, threw the stone at her head. It smacked her around the face and she dropped to the floor, unconscious.

I finally headed off towards the guard outpost and as I arrived there was a bandit attack, they called me over to help, it was my pleasure to oblige them. There was little for me to do as the guards where getting in my way and I couldn't line up a shot, I decided to run atop the tower and shout on the bandits. "Fus!" I cried as the bandits staggered and the guards had more than enough time to stab them in their necks. They thanked me for my help and I reported the good news regarding the skooma den. They were grateful and offered me a sword from their rack, I thought about this but declined, I wish to craft my own sword to use.

I headed round the other way back to Whiterun, I passed several deer which I decided to leave as I feel like I have more than enough pelts at the moment, however I did pick a large amount of flowers and berries during my trip back, they are abundant on the roadside. I passed several farms on my way back and was tempted to grab some of their produce, however I somehow think that wouldn't be very considerate.

As I entered Whiterun their seemed to be a lot of murmuring around town, and a lot more eyes on me. I first headed into the alchemists to sell some of the uselss potions I'd made... I'm still practicing.

I strolled up to Dragonsreach, the Jarl's palace, with a bounce in my step and a grin on my face, all these thoughts were flouring through my mind, crazy stuff this is. As I approached the Jarl he greeted me, eager to find out the news... Surely he could realise that we defeated the beast considering I returned alive. I told him the story and how I was dragonborn, at first he seemed sceptical of me but he admitted there was a different aura about me. He gave me the title of thane and a housecarl... Nice but I really don't think I'll be needing one of them. He then told me about the Greybeards, I cut him off and told him I already knew about them, he seemed grumpier than ever.

I left Whiterun after chatting to Balgruuf regarding a bandit problem, seems I have me a job to do.

As I trundled down the road, heading west towards my target at Valthiem Towers, all the guards seemed to greet me as if they knew me, as if I was the hero of the day. But it was all of us, just because I am this dragonborn it doesn't mean that I am great hero... Yet.

During my journey I cam across several packs of walls that were all swiftly dealt with before they could track me down, however one did provide some problems, the axe that Balgruuf had rewarded me came into use then, it had some weird enchantment to it, I felt slightly stronger every time it connected with that wolf, not too sure on this.

I arrived at the towers, well I say arrived I was several hundred yards away, lining up an arrow coated in poison, prepared to take out the bandit at the very top of the closest tower. The arrow flew towards him and sunk into his head as he dropped off the tower. His comrades did not realise. I then knocked another arrow and prepared it for the bandit patrolling the walkway connecting the two towers. She also went down with little problem and did not give away my position, I approached the entrance unaware that there was a bandit around the corner. She came charging around the corner with a mace in her hand. Shit. I fumbled around attempting to get an arrow out of my quiver, after what seemed like an eternity I got one out. She was already upon me as I dodged out of the way of her swing mace, I quickly bashed her in the face with my bow, stunning her. I sprinted backwards as she began to come around and prepared an arrow for her face. I turned around and shot it perfectly into her head. She screamed in pain as she dropped to the floor, motionless.

I made my way atop of the first tower and noticed a bandit to the right of the second tower, he seemed to be several hundred feet away, I decided to use the last of the frostbite poisons on him, however as I had my shot lined up I noticed a rather well clad bandit atop the second tower, that was my target. I put the arrow down, pulled another arrow out of my quiver and shot it into the head of the first bandit I saw. I then reached to my side and picked up my arrow coated in poison and shot it into the bandit leader. He was tough. He charged down and began to make his way across the bridge, before he could reach the halfway point of the bridge he already looked like a pin cushion and was practically static.

I looted the place of anything interesting and then made my way back to the outskirts of Whiterun where I set up a tent and some fire.

    Talos guide you.
