I can see similarities in the bridge in the Volkihar Under Croft and the bridge spanning the chasm to Auriel's Chantry:
What castle Volkihar lacks is the "ribbed" windows and clean masonry of Falmer design. I can imagine that Volihar Castle was once a Snow Elf chapel, slowly corrupted over time to resemble what is does now. That'd fit with the general theme of the Dawnguard dlc and Falmer history.
I need more convincing on the Moondial, it says Dwemer to me. Have you got any comparisons with existing Falmer designs?
