Thanks Phil. :) I like to play characters who feel more like real people, and less like demigods, so I'm glad you appreciate that aspect of it too. I admit there were a few moments when I was tempted by a few storm and wind shouts, but the better half of the team convinced me it just wasn't quite right for him. Looking back, that was totally the right call.
I hear you about protection. Where the Swordthane perks Smithing and Block, Breath of Kyne perks Smithing and Light Armor. It was pretty solid having the two together, especially if you're continually improving your armor. And, as you point out, the vast majority of threats are dealt with before they're within striking distance. With smithing in the mix, it ensures that bows are powerful and that daggers are very pointy... we didn't have too much trouble with both of those skills worked in. I would say if someone did want to shell out for training, light armor might be the one to do it in since there generally isn't as much close combat as with other builds. And thankfully Nords get a +5 for that. So thanks for pointing it out, I think I'll make a note about that in the build.
As for the images, we thought exactly the same thing. They were the hands-down choice for his portrayal. :D
