The future of the Elder Scrolls Online and the ESO CB

When I first started hyping ESO on this site, I heard a lot of complaints about the class system, and that was a lot of peoples' reasons for not wanting to sink the money in and buy ESO. While this still isn't "fixed" per se, Zenimax has announced a new crafting system that will be added to the game. Spellcrafting. In a future update, Zenimax will be releasing Spellcrafting, which will allow you to go and conjure all your favorite atronachs and familiars, throw up a flame cloak to damage nearby enemies, and cast Oakflesh. Nearly every spell you know and love from the other Elder Scrolls games will be included (namely the ones from Skyrim). Granted, you'll have to complete the Mage's Guild questline in order to do so, that won't stop your friends in the official ESO CB guild, The Infinite Dawn, from crafting you a spell tablet so that you can consume it and learn it yourself! This entire crafting system (in addition to having some friends to craft spells for you!) will basically make the class system a nice "extra" set of skills you can occasionally use. This will open a plethora of possible builds that can be posted!

For more information, you can watch this video on YouTube (get a snack, it's two hours long!), or just read these notes that were posted on Dulfy. The information is identical, just feel free to take it in as you wish. Now, there's more information than just Spellcrafting at those links, so feel free to peruse. I just felt that Spellcrafting was the most relevant one, as well as the one I'm most excited about, to post here on the blog.

What do you guys think of this? If you haven't bought the game yet, will you buy it now? Are there any other features you'd like to see in ESO? If so, what are they? Discuss!

Looking forward to seeing the fun stuff that comes out of this. It's not spellcrafting in the traditional TES sense of combining spell effects together but rather starting with a base effect and adding your own modifiers to it. I imagine an Ultimate-based permanent summon will be quite popular, and of course you'll have some great AoE spells (perhaps a damage over time spell with a short cast time) for sweeping up trash in dungeons.

Another one I'm looking at is the Restore Stamina one - I'm thinking of making a werewolf-Redguard-dualwield Sorcerer stamina based build once they buff up Stamina builds a bit more. Could maybe make some sort of Adrenaline Rush type ability that goes over your ultimate!

I'd like to see a F2P option, and I might.

I'd prefer to see the subscription go away, I'm finewith the initial cost of the game, but it's really a double whammy. Still enjoying it though!

You can't make a permanent summon ult, you've got to pick between reduced cost, AoE, ultimate, ritual, enduring, or none. Enduring being the one that makes the effect longer, and ritual being the one that makes your spell stronger, but also have a cast time.

Yeah, I imagine a million people want that spell, lol. I personally want to be able to self-heal as a tank without using these silly Restoration Staff HoT's.

Plus, you have to pay for a race.

    This is getting off topic.
