That's what I went with, her brother, perhaps an older one. Or one who left when she was younger. Perhaps he isn't exactly a brother, but like a brother to her, in a way

True, i mean, they could just be in a purely sexual relationship, but who knows? Unless we lived on Nirn, or were them, we would never know the truth. Maybe they were rivals? Maybe they were siblings, whether actually, or in-arms.

Thank you for those kind words Phil. I have to admit I did get a bit of a buzz piecing this together.
I’ve added the two links you suggested.

I know you delve deeper in regards to Straag Rod and flesh out the chars like I do. Adding human emotions does give us a need to add between the lines so we can write stories and portray the chars so they look and feel more real.
Turning a NPC into a solid fictional but at the same time a seemingly real character does make this process necessary so readers can relate to them.

I imagine that you did.
Hehe, looks like my mindless ramblings on dragons and such has finally brought you here. See, they do not bite. We are a friendly bunch.

Whilst this does not disprove Aela and Skjor were lovers, because their motives to hunt together were not expounded upon in-game, I find your position the more reasonable one as it requires the fewest assumptions.
Regardless of their status, humans should never be soiled by filthy beast hands!

I'll happily discuss the possibilities of Skjor and Aela having some sort of family connection but I would much rather discuss Aela and Sotek's relationship in my TOC where she belongs.
EDIT: It belongs...
