Building for Survival Mode (FO4)

Yeah, I was considering the Aquagirl perk for a nice toy later on. I don't have Far Harbor yet, so perhaps that's something to consider. Since most of my build ideas inescapably involve investments in stats, I'm trying to see which needs to be prioritized, and I think I erred by not focusing more in Agility. Might cut those End and put them there.

I started with a 9 I think in Agility and a 9 plus the bobblehead in perception and have focused more on being sneaky, so I haven't exactly needed the health (there have been points where I've had half my health bar full of radiation and I haven't been bothered by it).

So, early on life giver is useless. The small boost doesn't let you survive any more than if you didn't have it. You don't really need lead belly either, just cook your meat.

And yes, sneak over health is the way I've played. The other factor to mix in is your overall defense. You can get a much bigger boost in protection by investing in Armorer (better mods and ballistic weave if you choose), and a perk like Lone Wanderer (15% and 30% less damage at ranks 1 & 2).

That being said, I did take Life Giver also, later on after raising my damage dealt (gunslinger & lone wanderer in my case). The third rank, in which you slowly regain some health is somewhat useful.

But if you're debating skipping END altogether, just remember it affects your AP drain while sprinting. And with no fast travel, you'll be sprinting a lot. Which is why I wear END boosting clothing like the Sea Captain's cap when running.

Cool. I started at a mere 3 and planned to invest more, but I'm constantly out of AP and it's driving me crazy. Sprinting and VATS seem more essential for my playstyle than they used to.

Lead Belly can be nice if you're running low on purified water and need to drink, say if you've just used antibiotics or a stimpak. A couple of times recently I've sat on the edge of a pool and used one of those items followed by the water there to sate my thirst.

I'm not sure if it effects your chances of getting a disease, but not taking the rads is nice.

    Thanks for the input!

Ah, I didn't think about the AP drain. That's a complaint I have with low AP points in my current build. Sprinting seems essential. Good thought about the clothing, I'll use that.

Do we know to what degree each point of END affects AP drain? And would Moving Target rank 3 perhaps counteract that? More is better, I'm sure, but I'm trying to see where to balance.

With my sniper rifle I can only get 3 VATS shots in, so I invested in the Sniper perk which lets me hold my breath for longer so I don't have to rely on VATS as much.

I guess if you're not maintaining settlements. But the first thing I do in almost every hub is setup water purifiers and a pump. I've never drank dirty water. But yeah, lead belly in more of a solo-ish run through I could see.

Damn I forgot about moving target rank 3, it's currently sitting on one rank and I'm almost level 44. Well I know what I'm getting after Aquagirl.

Also the DLC added another rank of Action Boy (75% faster regen)
