Ok so that Nord/Nede thing reminded me why I asked the question to begin with.
These stones were made way back when the cultural beliefs of the day weren't around yet. I don't think it is a coincidence that once the three Guardians and the Serpent are removed from the list that we are left with nine constellations.
What with Mankar's assertions that Tamriel is Lorkhan's plane of Oblivion and a few other references scattered about in the texts, along with the topical discussions about the unconscious Aedra, is it feasible to propose that the Constellations are the true gods of Nirn?
That would make the Redguards right, no?
