Depending on how well they stack damage, they can get pretty good damage, but the pools are a big factor in damage. Every 1k attribute points is equivalent to 100 weapon or spell damage.
Another weakness I forgot to mention is they basically lose crits as they'd need to focus on building both magic and weapon crit chance, and typically a hybrid will focus on proc sets or stacking weapon damage or magicka/stamina to empower their abilities, they also need to split Champion Points as well. However, hybrids do have some other things going for them, such as the nearly infinite sustain I mentioned earlier, and you'll never find a better debuffer or DOT specialist, as they have access to all that their weapon and class skills can give, a hybrid Nightblade is especially dangerous for this reason as they have a shitton of debuffs and DOTs, there's even a DOT focused HybridBlade PVP build that can outdamage a DK tank's healing, damage shields, and resistances with their rotation. Hybrids also make amazing werewolves right now as their weapon damage will power their offensive abilities and with a good build they can make Hircine's Bounty one of the best heals in the game, though this will change with Wolfhunter as the heal will be based on max health.
Interesting points, I'd be keen to see that NB setup in action in various situations. I can imagine it could fare well in Cyrodiil, and possibly a unique role in a trial where the lack of damage could be mitigated by others - not sure, my experience with both of those areas is limited. What about a four-person group Vet dungeon, though? We'd have a healer, a tank, but only one damage-dealer... would this particular setup bring enough to the group to pull its weight?

The NB I was talking about has no lack of damage. As I said, it can turn a situation hot for a DK tank, which is near immortal most of the time. However, the build is made for PVP, and would require some tweaking to be made for PVE. However, it could work very well and could easily pull its weight in dungeons and trials since those all rely on DOTs for damage and the HybridBlade is a master of that. This is something that could throw up a Poison Injection and a Elemental Blockade and use them at around 80-90% efficiency compared to pure builds.

I think you may have the right idea, Ebon. I mean, PVP builds are not things I've ever really looked into with any great depth but the more I look now, the more I like what I see. That's not to say I particularly enjoy PVP but I do like the freedom and non-stgigmatic thought process going into those builds like the one you're telling us about. I should just relax more, it's not as though I'm in any great hurry to do a vet trial.
I've been watching Deltia's new series, Battleground Bully, and am enjoying his style of presentation and "learn with me" and "play what's fun" attitude. So I'm going to put the link to that on the OP.

20-25k dps is a good benchmark to know, thanks Patriarch. I got my Nord Stamden to level 50 yesterday, today will look at getting some equipment and testing dps. I picked up Valkyn Skoria shoulders from the Undaunted Chest, so will probably need to venture into CoA to get the helm. Ugh, not ready for Vet yet! That'll do until I get Selene's, hopefully.
I've been using the cliff racer as a spammable. Is there an alternative skill you'd recommend?
Totally agree about the lava whip for stam DK's. Those signature skills are sort of why I don't like outsourcing damage to weapon skills, you know? Like, a magdk can use lots of class skills for damage. I mean, we can look at Alcast's Valakas build:
Slot 1: Burning Embers Slot 2: Engulfing Flames Slot 3: Flame Lash Slot 4: Harness Magicka Slot 5: Inner Light Ultimate: Destro Ultimate
That's three class skills for his primary bar using a flame staff, while the backbar also has three class skills - the weapon is used to compliment the class build. Whereas a stamdk has a total of four class skills spread over both bars - the class compliments the weapon skills. So just having a stamina morph of the whip for a spammable would really help in terms of identity - imo, at least.

Instead of using Cliff Racer, you could use Shrouded Daggers (a morph of the last skill in the DW line). It hits pretty hard and this particular morph does a bit of splash damage.
Stam Sorc also suffers from a lack of class abilities. In PvE, my Sorc uses Hurricane (aoe DOT skill), Crit Surge (although not needed if you chug potions and have a competent healer), and maybe Bound Armour. Ulti's are Dawnbreaker and Ballista. In PvP, I add possibly two more Sorc skills, but that's it.

What I really hate is the lack of gear diversity for meta, pve end game builds. All online builds are the same.
stamina - relequen, berserking warrior
magicka has a bit more options: siroria, mother' sorrow (NB, Templar)
siroria, necropotence (pet sorc)
siroria, burning spellweave (non-pet sorc, mDK).
