Before I get into the specifics, let me show you how poisons with positive effects are useful in combat. Let's say you're playing a Healer, a Summoner or a Necromancer, yet you're not very fond of using Illusion to buff followers / atronachs / undead minions. Or you're playing a Necromancer and spells like Heal Undead are not available because you don't have Dawnguard installed. The answer to your problems lies in one skill: Alchemy! Through Alchemy, you can create poisons with positive effects that restore and fortify Health or Stamina and increase Magic Resistance!
How to do it
Equip a dagger and apply the poison with positive effects on it;
Hit your follower or conjured / undead minion with the dagger to apply the positive effects;
Observations & Restrictions
Poisons with positive effects can be applied to undead minions only if the npcs were NOT immune to poisons when they were alive. So, if you kill a bandit and raise it, the poisons with positive effects will work on it. If you kill a vampire and raise it, the poisons won't work because vampires have 100% resistance to poisons;
Poisons with positive effects work on conjured Atronachs, Dremora Lords, Seekers and Atronach Thralls;
Poisons with positive effects work on followers;
Poisons with positive effects don't work on Mistman, Boneman and Wrathman;
Some of the more beneficial positive effects that can be applied through poisons are: Restore Health, Fortify Health, Restore Stamina, Fortify Stamina, Resist Fire, Resist Frost and Resist Magic. Effects like Fortify One-Handed Do Not Work even if poisons with these positive effects can be brewed;
