Question- you have Augmented Flames as a needed perk and mention Rune Master to augment the Rune Hammer's damage. Last I checked, runes weren't affected by the Augmented Flames perks, and Rune Master only increases distance and doesn't affect damage. I imagine Aspect of Terror wouldn't affect runes either. Am I wrong on any of this, or do the runes from the Rune Hammer behave differently than normal ones, etc.?

Just doubled-checked with one of my old mage characters and looked it up at UESP- runes are not affected by the augmented perks, although it looks like they should have been. It's listed in the Bugs section on the UESP Destruction page. I do play on Xbox though, so others might not have this problem if they're running an unofficial PC patch that fixes the issue.

I have always wanted to use runes outside of stealth, but have never had the tools to figure out if they are a viable form of combat. I can never seem to find any information on them either. Has anyone tested the runes? Do they benfit from the destruction perks (augmented flames, ect.) and the aspect of terror bug? I have seen plenty of builds use the dawnguard rune hammer so I know that works, but what about using the runes normally? The ash rune and the frenzy rune are self explanatory. I do not intend on using solely runes so they will be supplemented with other skills such as one handed. Will that be enough? Sorry for all the questions it is a good build and you have earned a +1 from me.

Ah, I see. Thanks for clearing that up Molag Bal. I have been running this character recently and the runes seem to supplement the warhammer and the and the heavy armor pretty well. I take a more defensive stance in battle with this guy and it seems to work out well. Skipping the augmented flames perk and taking two in smithing seems to be the better choice, well, for me anyway. I'll probably start using robes too so I look more "priestly" hehe. Still a good build though Magikot. I'm really loving the idea.
