The mysteries of the Dwemer

From the first time I saw the wondrous designs of the dwemer in blackreach and got a hint of their society, I fell mafly in love with the mysteries of this race. Although I already have some basic knowledge, there are many mysteries still to be unraveled. Where have they gone? How did they look? Where they really so short? Were they cruel slave drivers or cultured geniuses? I don't know if their are any definite answers, but if there are, where can one find them? -
