It reminds me of a martial stance too. It's ok, but it does need a little work - of course he is a mage after all, not a fighter. (For starters, he should lower his stance and tuck his hips under to straighten his spine - he's leaning forward (to our left).)

Well, technically Chase is a fighter first and a mage second. But I wasn't really going for any sort of martial arts stance kind of thing, anyway. I just thought this looked cool.
