Uh... I still hope that TES universe isn't a copy from some religion of the RL. Maybe, just maybe they'd come up with something else...
I know that my world wiew is weird, but for me humanized gods are unbelievable. And in most of those mythologies they are just that way. I believe tht gods should be beyond human views and values, otherwise they are just cartoon superheroes.
Thus, I believe that what seems like split personslities to people isn't really the case, because gods may have goals that humans don't quite get. That's why it seems strange that an "elven" god suddenly sides with humans. The thing is that everyone only sees their own part of the picture, but a god's part is supposed to be more than a mortal's. The only one ho sees the whole is the Dreamer, and I suspect that the whole purpose of the Dream is to see beyond.
