They are about a dark elf named Drizzt Do'Urden that forsakes his races evil ways and leaves the Underdark in search of somewhere to call home.  After the first 2 books he is in the surface world and starts his adeventures.  R.A. Salvatore has written over 20 books about Drizzt and the people in his life. They are by far the best thought out fantasy stories and characters i've read since Tolkien (hope is spelled that right)  less
