Hey, I thought we had similar ideas!
I never did say how much I liked this build (+1), but I don't know when I'll be able to play it. I have so many builds on a list, it's soon to turn into a novel at this rate.

hmmm. this is actually how I played my first character ever in skyrim, except I took light armour for the wind walker perk that raises stamin regeneration, and to walk around in guard armor and a light armour hood, looking like a BA. This is actually the second Breton Spell Shield on the site though, richardo maia made one called the "Spellblocker" basically the same thing, but with robes instead of heavy armour. The link is here.

With the Archmage setup, fully smithed, Juggernaut 2/5, and Ebonyflesh, the AR ends up around 250 or so (Without a pauldron, for you console players ;3). With the last 3 perks in Juggernaut, it easily exceeds that. One of the main up-sides to this build is the constant AR for those heated battles where you just don't have time to recast your flesh spells. This build's main aspect is bashing, which allows you to to take minimal damage in the first place, further mitigated by your AR.
Thanks for your comment and for your like!
Also, I've tried SkyRe, and it mods the game too far for me to be able to post accurate builds without constantly swapping back and forth (Something I have no desire to do). And if you have SkyRe, there are only a handful of other mods you can download that are even compatible, otherwise all your other modded armor is seriously underrated. I found the cons outweighed the pros in my situation. But thanks for your suggestion, and maybe other users may like it!
Also on the note of SkyRe, if I recall correctly, it does have perks oriented with boosting spell damage while wielding a shield, though they're higher-tier. You can also get some heavy armor perks that only require 2 or 3 pieces to be worn. So if that interests any of you PC players, feel free to test it out with this build.

Ah ok. That's the other build I mentioned in a comment a few pages of comments back.
This build actually stemmed from my irrational love of the color yellow; the first armor set I had was the Dwemer configuration, which happened to be heavy armor and some robes. After I had an idea, I researched other shield mages. I didn't notice the Spellblocker also has the ward absorb/spellbreaker combo, I actually read that on a wiki.
Also, for the light armor, I like your idea and it's definitely a possibility! If you wanted to use light armor versus the Vigilant look, it's quite alright.

It's fine. You can delete your duplicates, I believe. If not, no harm done.
As far as ranks in Armsman and the choice of a sword, this build wants to maximize damage output while decreasing the amount of damage taken. Although I could possibly lower it to 3/5, I may add a note to that skill. The sword was chosen to give a greater reach. Daggers have very short range, which means you're more likely to be hit. Just a nick with the tip of a sword will dish out a bit of damage, restore magicka, and keep you just of of reach of just about anything.
However! If you do desire to play with a dagger, feel free! I view all but the most specifically attuned builds as more of a template, rather than a strict guideline. Perhaps that's why the Spellguard is a diverse order, hm? =P
