There's no poll option for "I've had it pre-ordered since day one, so yes, of course I will be playing it.  Ad Victoriam."

Now here's another speculative theory... What if Fallout 76 -is- a stand alone single player game. (Or even better a stand alone single player game with co-op!)  While I do think a little over two years is not enough time create a whole new Fallout game... this is thinking under the conventional terms of Bethesda making an entirely new game. However, what if this new game is not an -all new- stand alone game, but rather it is a rehashed, rebranded, reskinned mesh of Fallout 4 with a completely new storyline! Keep in mind, that is EXACTLY what New Vegas is; Obsidian took Fallout 3 and recycled the engine, the meshes, rebranded it, renamed it, reskinned all the meshes of Fallout 3 with a new storyline and called it New Vegas.  This was not a difficult task, evident by the fact it only took them two years to release New Vegas after Fallout 3.  Well, here we are... a little over two years after Fallout 4.  So, if Obsidian could do it, is it a far stretch to think Bethesda may have decided to take on that same project themselves instead of outsourcing it to Obsidian? I think not! If only there was a scrap of evidence to fuel this theory... Well, here's my circumstantial!  Just weeks ago, most people were leaning towards expecting/hoping for Bethesda to take turns with Fallout releases and give Obsidian the next one, New Vegas 2. Well this speculation was killed by Obsidian themselves when they put out a tweet of "How do you let someone down easy? Asking for a friend. #ItsNotUs."  Most people took this to mean: "New Vegas 2 is not coming!"  But all they really said was, "It's not us."  So in my eyes, that leaves the door wide open. Yesterday I read someone point out that 38+38=76. This is of course reference to the Lucky 38 Casino from Fallout New Vegas. i.e. New Vegas 1=38, New Vegas 2=76.  I smiled at the notion, but dismissed it just as quickly.  That was until today, when I was having a look at Bethesda's Facebook page and I saw their profile image featuring "76" not as a square image, but as a round PNG. Suddenly it didn't look like a picture of a vault with "76" inscribed on it; It looked like a casino poker chip with the number "76" on it. Naturally, this immediately conjured up in my head the image of the ever famous Lucky 38 poker chip! Immediately I thought,"It's not a vault, it's a poker chip!"  Well, we know for a fact there is a Vault 76, so a Lucky 76 casino may be unlikely... but still possible! At worst, the number 76 could be a reference to Fallout New Vegas.  Oh. And guess what Route 66 -does- cross? That's right... You guessed it: Las Vegas, and the Mojave Desert. Lastly, let's revisit the song again... Yes, that good ole country song, Take Me Home Country Roads.  So, load up your youtubes on your pipboy, and ask yourself, can you hear the voice of Mr. New Vegas loading up this track as you strap on your six shooter, throw on your leather duster, and head down that dark and dusty, long and lonesome highway to deliver your package..?     "Mojave, mo' problems. Am I right folks?"    This post was edited by LyonsKnight at June 1, 2018 6:17 PM EDT

Mottyskills said: Chris said: https://youtu.be/jJcmxTz_qwI Every leak and Bethesda's Response hmm yeah this feels like the leaks (re: it being a base building mmo/ online Rusty thing) are pretty close, but that they are missing bigger elements that bethesda will able to 'announce' or save for E3. there's one thing they breifly glazed over and someone mentioned the route 76 connection with the West Virginia song I keep thinking about.  We know Vault 76 is in DC. We know Interstate 76 goes from ohio to philly through south pennsylvania...but not actually into West Virginia. We also know I-76 has been named in reference to Philly being connected to Independence Day 1776.  IDK that all of this means anything. But maybe the road has a part to play...like a mad maxian type of component where you try to connect supply line across the state or connect with other settlements etc. Now I'm just rambling. But I'm optimistic whatever this is will be fun.    Agreed on the optimism! I am sure I will enjoy whatever they put out.  There is, however, an Interstate 64 which goes all the way across from the most eastern end of Virginia, across Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, and ends in Missourri.  So, needless to say, that is one huge interstate! It's the second longest interestate that does not end in a "5" or "0." No, it doesn't sound like 66, but if Bethesda's goal was to slightly alter the name of the highway so as not use the actual Highway name, I think a variation of "Route 66" would be the most recognizable.  Hence the 76.  Interstate 64 crosses very notable locations from the Chesapeake Bay, Norfolk, Richmond, near Roanoke (city in the Blue Ridge Mountains mentioned in the Take Me Home song), Charlottesville, Charleston, Lexington, Louisville, and St. Louis.  Now that is a huge span of land! So, I think this theory would make more sense if it were an online game of sorts versus a stand alone single player as covering that much land wouldn't be feasible.  However, if the player comes out of Vault 76 on the East end and begins making their journey down a long lonesome road to the west... that would give an MMO or large scale online game plenty of space to operate in while at the same time providing rich history and iconic locations to discover along the quest.   Ad Victoriam! I don't know if it's just me, but when I see and hear the "76" it immediately reminds me of Route 66. I've tried looking to see if there are any famous route 76's, especially in Virginia, but have come up empty handed.  The teaser song "Take me Home" has great reference to the "Old Country Road," which again conjures up a Route 66 reference in my mind.  Perhaps Vault 76 is on a large interestate reminscent of Route 66?  I can definitely see great correlation between a lone traveler and an interstate highway. There's never been a Fallout game named after the Vault of the main character; could be a first, but I can't help but feel there must be a greater significance to the 76...

Mottyskills said: Reading some more - Vault 76 was a control vault with 500 residents in the DC area designed to be opened 20 yrs after the bombs.. And based on the 2077 bombs and the PipBoy shown date of Oct 27th 2102 in the reveal trailer - that all lines up.  The question still remains...what is the game? But yeah. pretty cool IMO   Based on this information I'm inclined to think it will be an online game.  Five hundred residents flowing out of a vault 20 years after the bombs, and crawling out to the Fallout all at once? Sounds like a great opening to an MMO if you ask me!  The image of the Reclamation Day party in the teaser video seems to support this as well, given that there appears to have been a huge party inside the vault that was abandoned all at once. The fact that Fallout76 is set in the earliest time period in Fallout history would also provide a good setting in which to base a Fallout MMO on. That time period would provide a grey area in which they can work to create new stories prior to the creation of certain factions,  allow for individual player character stories without interfering with canon stories, and the ability to patch into the beginnings of canon factions. I for one am very excited for a Fallout MMO! A fallout Co-Op or MMO is exactly what I've been wishing for!  I have played the heck out of Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, and Fallout 4, and I still have yet to completely finish them! I don't need another stand alone Fallout yet.  I also have much left to play in Fallout 1,2, BOS, etc. What I would like, is a Fallout I can play with friends! And I'm confident that Bethesda has had much time and experience to learn from their mistakes in ESO, and will be able to provide a solid Fallout MMO game. As with any other MMO, I don't expect it to be perfect at first.  So, I am very hopeful and very much hoping for a Fallout Online! Also, Vault 76 has evidently been mentioned in Fallout 3 DLC Broken Steel and Fallout 4, and is located in Virginia.  The fact that Vault 76 is said to be in Virginia matches up with the West Virginia song in the teaser.  So, it will likely be set in Virginia!  That's exciting and promising.  I am very content for it to be set in Virginia!
