Weekly Build Feature - Week 1

So, the Weekly Feature is a new little feature system that Vargr and I are running, where each week we throw up a poll with 6 builds to choose from, and you guys vote for whichever one you want to be featured. Only a single build with the most votes will get featured, though we're hoping that all of them get a bit of support through this. Each of these builds is Legendary Ranked, and we're aiming to focus mostly on this rank for the next month at least.

This week's theme is simply 'The Alphabet' where I'm running through and randomly picking a build from each letter starting with A and ended with F, and throwing one of them in the poll. I have gone in relative order (sort of), finding builds that were closer to 100 rather than some of the crazy builds that are up around 400 likes.

Anyway, I'd recommend giving each of these a read and a like (they are all excellent builds) before heading over to the poll to vote.

    The Arcane Archer by Mason

    The Bloodletter by Ponty

    The Crepuscular by Vlad B

    The Desert Spellsword by Albino

    The Elder One by Oddball

    The Fearmonger by Henson

    Week One Poll

Crud! That's a tough call for me... those are each fantastic builds. Hmmmm, a toss-up between The Elder One and The Arcane Archer.

That's the worst part of it :P The whole time I was compiling the list I was just constantly stopping to read the builds and going 'Man, that's so awesome', 'Haven't read this one in ages'. Need to read them again though, ended up going through about 20 builds (a lot didn't have pictures and I felt like that would be a tad unfair when compared to something like the AA or Crepuscular) but at the moment I'm really torn...love The Elder One, but also love The Fearmonger...and AA and Bloodletter, oh and the Desert Spellsword is a fun build. The Crepuscular looked really awesome too :(

Yeah, I opted for the Arcane Archer. I remember being blown away by the concept that Enchanting, not bow strength, is what delivers your damage. A powerful late game archer rocking just a long bow--I was like, "Whaaaaat?" xD

I think I'm going to have to go with the only one that I don't recall reading before, The Crepuscular. I think what turned me towards it, in the end, was the combination of the artwork and the Roleplaying. I mean, it stands out nowadays as great in both categories and it's a four-year-old build. We've definitely moved more to RP and Presentation since then (where a lot of gameplay elements were still new) so it's pretty awesome to see something that's really good at doing all three.

But man was it tough. I've played characters based on the Arcane Archer, and The Elder One was the second build I remembered reading (with The Orc Chief Shaman being the first) so those two were really close.

The Crespuscular for me too, again, for what you said. It's a combo of all the elements.

Yeah, Shin, I was impressed with the concept too for the Arcane Archer, until I saw all the soul gems I needed. :P

You know, The Arcane Archer would have been really helped by Dawnguard now that I think about it. Soul Gem collecting is a fair bit easier once you've gone down to the Soul Cairn...man it's been a long time since I've played an Enchanter (and going to be longer still, damn other games for existing). Not sure if Mason ended up playing it since DG would've come out just before he released the build, but still. Soul Cairn is overlooked way too often in builds I reckon, makes Enchanting a fair bit easier.

First day on the job and you're already pushing out some good stuff, Deebs! As mentioned, these are all fantastic builds, but only one can emerge as the winner. I love Mason's Arcane Archer so I blindly voted for it without properly looking through the list first, a major mistake. Yes, it's an amazing build and one of the first to exploit how powerful (and amazing) enchanting is, but I totally forgot about Vlad B's Crepuscular! Vlad's B has got to be one of my favorite builders, primarily due to how insanely well his builds are presented. I love Noodles and his flashy photoshop images, but Vlad B's minimalistic way of presenting is unique to him and I haven't seen anything like it in a while. Definitely would've given my vote to his Crepuscular had I not been so hasty with my vote.

Flaw One in my planning for this feature...got absolutely no idea what to do about a tie...and when you've got such high quality builds, ties are practically guaranteed over the course of a year. Right, very welcome to suggestions here because I can't reasonably feature both on the main page, regardless I will definitely feature them within the group (stickying the discussion) but yeah.

Uhh, let me know if you've got any ideas there. I could always end it a day/two days early and run a tie-breaker poll but that's slightly flawed because it reduces the total number builds get and so on and so forth. But it might be the best idea.

That was pretty much my first thought (but with the Elder One instead because of my love for the build). If I'm not mistaken, you should be able to change your vote by clicking 'see question' in the poll. 98% sure of that, I know I can but I'm not entirely sure that it isn't just Host Powers. But yeah, that's pretty much my major reason for picking Vlad's build, it's a bit of a shame that he didn't get the same attention (for my active period at least) as some of the other big names because he was kind of a revolutionary builder that you only notice (for real) looking back on it.
