Damn, I love this book, you have no idea how much. 

If you´d have to take a guess who the Master of Stealth is, what would you say? 

My immediate thought was Lord Vetinari, from Terry Pratchett's Discworld books, but I think that's somewhat unlikely! 

I've never actually done the Thieves' Guild quests, believe it or not - my main is far too moral - so I'd just have to guess: Brynjold? He's probably too big. 

You are right it is tied to Thieves' Guild, but not Skyrim's one.

You see, this book is originally from Oblivon and this tale (fictional is my guess, but still...) portrays how centuries ago Emer Dareloth stole Nocturnal's Cowl and became The Gray Fox. So it ties to Oblivion's Thieves Guild, where you basicaly work for Gray Fox and eventualy become The Gray Fox, wearing Nocturnal´s Cowl.

Gonna take this opportunity to say Oblivion has the best Thieves Guild story in Elder Scrolls, in my opinion.

As I said, I love this book, mostly because I really love Oblivion´s Thieves's Guild. As Ian says, it has the best Thieves's Guild story in TES. Hell, I would even say best Guild questline in TES. 

Oblivion's Dark Brotherhood is a worthy contender for 'best Guild story' also, IMO. Also, I really enjoyed ESO's Mages Guild.

I had started playing Oblivion when I discovered Skyrim, so I stopped. I'd like to carry on with it, especially modded. My character was an old female Orc; I liked her.
