Character Build: The Witchhunter

  • April 2, 2013

Argonian was actually a strong contender for racial choice as when I was researching witchhunter's in previous games, Argonians were always recomended right next to Bretons. In the end I chose Breton for Magic resistance, but playing an Argonian shouldn't be too much different. Let me know how it goes and have fun.

Bump. I've added a video to this build, let me know what you think!

    The video is amazing!

Awesome video, Twisted. Hmm, think I might choose a different headgear, the bright yellow-ish hood clashes with the dark master robes. Mine will probably turn out a bit more stealth oriented than your's did, as well as leaning towards the bow more often than not (I prefer the feel of it).

Yeah, all of the other AoE spells work the same way, I just find lightning to be the most useful as you can hit enemies without giving them a chance to retaliate.

    Thanks for the Sub

If you find something that looks better I'd love to know, I'm not a fan of circlets, so the hood was the only real head gear I could find. I started very stealth orientated, but as I became more powerful, I started to go in loud more often. I still use stealth, just not in every situation.

That's one of the great things about this build. The different bows have enchantments based on their strengths. Crossbows are for dealing high damage against individuals, while the fast draw speed of bows allow you to use status effect type enchantments on more enemies in less time.

Video is great, i love bouncing chain lightning off walls to kill people around corners but bouncing it off your summon is absolutely fantastic use. The only question i can think of is do you avoid alteration for a reason? The magic resistance plus ebony flesh seem like a perfect fit for this type of character, perhaps they are too magicka intensive alongside summoning an atronach?

Recently ive been mucking around with using both crossbows and standard bows situationally. Ive been using the crossbow for armoured enemies and high health enemies due to its 'punch' and then having a longbow/zephyr for quick applications of poisons which, for this type of build, could easily be replaced with enchanting. All in all this type of character is quite fun and this presentation really is great.

Thanks James. I played around with alteration for the first 15 levels or so and decided to take it out. I found I didn't really need the extra protection, especially with an atronach to tank damage and dragon aspect to protect myself in an emergency. Flesh spells felt like nothing more than wasted magicka.

wow twisted this is amazing. what a brilliant use of the disintigrate perk to make necromancers useless

    instant +1

you have officially become my new favorite build maker

i bask in your glory oh great one

one question against frost magic using draugr would it be better to use a frost atronach so it can tank for you or should i summon a flame atronach to play against its weaknesses
