What version of the game are you playing on, because I can't seem to replicate this. Even with both versions of witbane and the atronach I'm regenerating magicka. I thought it might have been the unofficial patch but even after uninstalling that it didn't work.

It's regular Skyrim with Unofficial patches, and about 68 other mods, including Immersive college of Winterhold. I'll post my load Order tomorrow morning. Could be that it's a glitch specific to me? Maybe I got lucky? Frankly surprised the patches are letting me do this.

Would be interesting if anybody else could reproduce this? I know I couldn't get what you're getting. I am getting zero regen. Lol, I'd rather have what you're getting, no regen is quite rough. Playing in a completely different way that is rewarding, but quite the challenge. You really have to pick your spells well. I mean, just when I thought this build was getting easy.

Went to the the Midden and created the staves of the corresponding atronachs and the spell tome for conjure storm atronach. Opted to carry an ebony sword as an "oh sheeet" button for last defense and the Gaulder black bow, which absorbs magicka, though unfortunately I got it a wee bit too early seeing as I didn't think I'd need it. Got my Elsweyr fondue and a few ingredients to make potions of magicka on the fly. Just finished Waking Nightmare. That was a challenge. Alteration is suffering a bit for this. Was very easy to level it with some regen, but without any at all, I'm opting for damage instead of defense. I'll see where this playstyle takes me over the next few days, otherwise, I'll cure myself and continue with the atronach and regular witbane.

Do you currently have an advanced form of the atronach? because it might be a part of that bug is mixing with the effects of witbane.

If you give me the exact steps (Which I'm guessing are what you posted earlier) then I could try to replicate it with a new character instead of with my event build (I only used it because it was the one that came up when I hit continue :P). It might even have something to do with how much magicka you have similar to the infinite magicka or stamina glitchs.

    Good News Lissette! :D

I was able to replicate it. I started a brand new character (an orc since that's what you're using) and then used the console to increase Archery, Conjuration, Alteration and One Handed to 100. I'm not sure if it was necessary but I wanted to see if having more then base magicka would make it work. I then acquired the atronach and added witbane in this order 00010A250 then 000B8783. My magicka now no longer regens.

Then while writing this comment I decided to go back and see if the amount of magicka even matters. So with a level 1 Orc I repeated the process and got the same result :D

Damn, this is cool. The Atronach of Old. I´m glad you managed to make it work, guys. I was really dissapointed there is a cap for -Magicka Regen, but this...this opens up new horizons.

Skyrim has one disadvantage when it comes to True Atronach (zero Magicka regen). No Welkynd Stones. I mean....these stones pretty much balanced the Atronach in Oblivion. Morrowind had no Magicka regeneration in general.

Unperked Alchemy seems like the best way to offset it. I would test Magicka Regen potions, if they actually regenerate. Dwarven Oil, Garlic, Jazbay Grapes, Salt Pile - all are quite common.

Also, one more thing. Magicka Regeneration is dependant on the maximum Magicka. Like...50% Magicka Regeneration of 200 Magicka and 50% of 400. The second will be faster. So either you achieved a glitch with permanent no regen or maybe with more Magicka...don´t know, you tested it, right, Goldie? With how much magicka?

I tested it at both level 1 so 100 magicka and level 37 with 280 magicka and both times it worked. Now it was a brand new Orcish character both times (console commands) so I had no perks or equipment.

I've come to realise that I have a problem with how Skyrim atronach manages the regen. It should effect your base magicka regen similar to that vampire ring in Dawnguard, instead of a multiplier which can be overwritten by other effects. If it did you'd always have your magicka regen at half that of another character with the same equipment and perks, which would be an actual tradeoff.

So I just tested that by giving myself an Elixer of Lasting Potency (+100% regen) via the console and after waiting two hours in game I still hadn't regenerated any magicka.

Huh. So it´s apparently a glitch that prevents the magicka from regenerating completely. It´s not math then. In that case Restore Magicka potions are the only way I guess.

I wouldn't count them out until lissette has tried it for herself, who knows it could be similar to how when I first tried it with my event build save it didn't work but it did on a new character. But yeah at this point I'd go with restore magicka potions.

Yeah, I tried regen potions and nothing. I've yet to try a really potent combo like Morokei with arch-mage or master robes. I've already created little potions. Have my stash of Mori tapanella, red mountain flower, Elves' ears, creep cluster, and whatever I find that restores magicka. The cool thing is that I can probably, if this glitch holds with cloths, get the benefit of Master robes of Alteration without the regen. I will console myself some of those and see if the regen holds true. If so, so nice to ditch unperked enchanting.

This is pretty exciting. Why I find the glitch in the game that foooooks up a mage big time is beyond me. It's like opposite of Advanced Atronach, which I can't run cause I'm on a patched game anyway. HAHAHA
