Well, I like the idea of defacing the shrines and there are a few ways to do it that I can think of. The best thing I could think of is bringing Nordic Followers (who you've manipulated into joining you) to the Shrines of Talos and the butchering them there. Of course, that'd require you to either be really sneaky or use Fury and I don't know if your using either...actually I don't know if it is illegal to kill your own followers. Maybe that is a fairly solid way of doing it, though I suppose going to jail for a night/paying 1000 gold would be worth defacing a Shrine of Talos.

Quick Note: You can also kill them in a more secret area and then move their body. Might make it easier to avoid capture if you did it somewhere secret.

There are probably a few other ways, but killing someone in that manner would absolutely be a cutthroat thing to do. Even planting an Amulet of Talos on them could be seen as a message to others.

Ooo, that's deliciously evil. *rubs hands together* And it definitely sends a message that Talos worship will not be tolerated.

    Sowing Discord & Guilds

    • Dark Brotherhood: Her priorities are going to be completing the DB questline for obvious reasons. The RP reason is that it murdering people creates fear, but the end of that questline works well towards her goals.
    • Companions: This is my third character and I haven't played through the Companions yet, but she has to have access to sow discord, and belonging to all guilds would accomplish that. As a player, I didn't know that I would have to become a werewolf so I checked a walkthrough and I do. What would be the ideal outcome for the Companions? You've actually just made me realize that she would not care whether Kodlak gets to Sovngarde or not. Can my character still get cured?
    • Thieves Guild: My only real issue with the Thieves Guild is that your character enters into an afterlife "contract" with Nocturnal to serve in the Evergloam until she says you don't have to. It's not just beating up some dude for Molag Bal. Is she really so committed to the Thalmor cause that she would sacrifice a portion of her afterlife to a Daedra? I mean, that's commitment. And really, doing Vex and Devin's quests ultimately give you the same outcome (active Thieves Guild in all Holds) that becoming the Guildmaster does. You just don't get the cool armor.
    • College of Winterhold: The apparent secrecy is enough to make her interested, and Ancano's presence even more so. As she learns more about what he's doing the more convinced she becomes that he's a liability to the Thalmor cause. So her presence is initially, "What's this guy doing here?"

DB looks good, and you're right, random assassinations scare the shit out of everyone. Works like a charm!

If you don't want to cure Kodlak (which I recommend you don't, in fact I would try and avoid going to Ysgramor's Tomb in general, unless you desecrate it later), the only way to cure lycanthropy I believe is to become a vampire lord via the Dawnguard quest. Harkon will offer to turn you, which will of course remove the other disease from you. If you don't wanna do this, after you cure Kodlak you can use a Glenmoil which head yourself to cure your own lycanthropy.

You make a good point about the TG. Realistically if a member was so caught up in other things (ie Thalmor business) would never get to the stage where they'd become a Nightingale, and besides I think Mercer would avoid increasing the rank of a known Thalmor member. Stick with your Delvin/Vex idea I reckon.

Good justification for the College. Are you gonna RP any encounters with Ancano? It doesn't have to be more than a 'ey up mate what you doin' ere?', but maybe it could lead to some spying and tailing. Maybe 'finding' (ie you planting then rediscorvering) some info that would make your killing off him even more jusitifed (not that it isn't already, it's just that he's a senior ranking Thalmor so you'll need some reasoning).

    Crime

One RP idea I've read elsewhere is to deface Talos shrines. I don't know how you'd actually do that in-game. I've already made sure that the priest in Whiterun got an arrow in his back, but that's kind of a gimme. And Elisif has asked me to place something on Talos's shrine for Torygg, but my only option was to say, "I'm sorry, I can't do that right now."  Though I may take it and just never deliver it.

    Power

Sorry, I got mixed up with the part about being the Dragonborn. Is that too brash or is that to be saved for the endgame?

Desecrating is a good shout, and I think the mighty Deebs has covered what I'd say. Sometimes I chuck a Fireball or two at one, maybe drop a poison vial on it like it's 'acid' to muck it up, ya know, normal stuff like that. Remember though that Nords are a proud race, so it doesn't necessarily be that destructive. Even leaving a 'note' (paper) or a piece of Thalmor gear might do the trick and instigate paranoia, which is more powerful than rage after all.

Thank you for the great feedback! This is definitely helping me solidify my character.

No worries, Monica! Hope your character turns out well!

By now, my chronic restartitis has to be known to everyone on the Vault, so I need help creating a Khajiit thief type character. I'm welcome to any suggestions, and maybe this time I'll be able to stick to one :D

What do you need help with specifically? Backstory? Goals (this is a big one for restartitis)? Quests? I'll help with all of it, just don't wanna preach to you what you've already decided :)

I need some help making a Khajiit character from the ground up. All I know is he's using Khune - the Redguard House by Elianora (for aesthetic) and some roleplay mods to make things better, as well as having a relationship with Serana. Preferably a sneaky kind of guy with an emphasis on being somewhat charming. Thinking picking a side in civil war, though undecided as of yet which one. Doesn't like Thalmor for Elsweyr backstory reasons. Related to my ESO character as great ancestor or something.

Don't know about mods so can't help there, so lets start with why he's in Skyrim.

Does he wanna get rich quick, or is he looking for the perfect heist or maybe a famous artefect? If it's the latter two, there are loads of options - the Jagged Crown, Ysgramor's Axe, the Eye of the Falmer etc. In fact, if you're keen to include Serana, maybe his initial interest to her was linked to her Elder Scroll, then he fell in love and they lived happy ever after (what can I say, Valentines Day is getting to me :P ). I prefer the last option because I find the hardest thing with a thief is finding motivation - yeah gold is nice, but you can level Pickpocket to 100 in a few hours and then you can have as much money as you can be arsed to get. Plus, isearching for something specific lets you use that charm for something more than flirting or getting out of a fight - you can use it to find information. Maybe you spend a few hours in an inn and now you know the next cave you have to dive into, or after trekking for hours to a remote location you can convince the old hermit to tell you where his treasure map is. Possibilities are endless really.

For the Civil War, that depends on whether he wants to steal from his side, or make Skyrim easier for crime. If it's the former, I'd go Imperials. As soon as he joins he'll gain access to places in Solitude that he wouldn't be able to reach before, places with gold. Let's say he gets into a treasuery and nicks all the gold and jewels, then he can run to the Stormcloaks and show them what a good agent he's been and can they please have him! Or he stays with the Legion and pretends he knows nothing, but deserts later because front line fighting isn't really his thing. Or if he wants to be able to steal for the rest of his days, I'd say join the Stormcloaks. A less regimented guard force and less organised central government would mean stealing things would never be easier. Or he quielty supports both to keep the chaos going as long as possible.

He’s somewhat a good guy, so I wanted to make him ally with a side that hurts the Thalmor the most. That Serena idea is amazing, by the way, but do you have any motivation for doing dawnguard? I wanted him to also do Northwatch and I wanted some help doing RP for certain guilds, like the bards college or something like that. I don't know what guild I will do but could you think of some RP reasons for them? I thought bards college meant he could get better at persuasion. By the way, your help is really valued :)

He's like Robin Hood in his style of thievery, so he's not a bad guy really.

He's like Robin Hood in his style of thievery, so he's not a bad guy really.

The Dawnguard is full of buff macho types who can split skulls and be the 'typical' hero. How valuable do you think a light fingered agent would be? I can't think of anything more valuable, especially given that a scratch from the enemy could potentially turn your ally into one of 'them'. Scouting locations and stealing supplies/weapons before a big battle, stealing information on enemy agent movements (ie assassinate the travelling vampire quest), you could even go comedy and steal all their hoods and hats so they're forced to stay in doors at risk of burning :P. He's the Robin Hood type you say, but maybe this time instead of stealing from the rich and giving to the poor you give away the vampires location so they don't steal innocents' blood. Plus, there's always the love option for pursuing the quest. Nothing will make someone dive into a den of bloodsucking Daedra spawn than the possibility of getting a peck from our favourite vampiric vixen.

Plus if you wanna run with the whole 'searching for the Elder Scroll' idea, then that basically opens up the whole game for exploration. Wanna nick Northwatch's nest egg? Well who other than the Thalmor would know of the scroll's whereabouts? You can basically appply this logic to any guild in the game - it never hurts to have too much info after all.

And thanks very much for your thanks mate, it's really nice to hear when someone appreciates my input. Sometimes I think I ramble on a bit, and I definitely do, but it's good to hear that something useful can be found from them!

I'm liking it so far, but why do you think he would sign up in the first place? Also, what side in the war would he take and what relations would he have with other important people? Got chased into Skyrim by Thalmor, escaping their wrath. Used to live In Elsweyr, Senchal. Didn't like Thalmor - stole from them, that kind of thing. He ran away into Skyrim, got locked up in Markath's jail - why in Markath? - maybe Ondolemar - and enjoys ale spiced with moonsugar. Also gonna enlist Teldryn Sero. Enjoys reading, so maybe tie that in with Elder Scrolls? Could you maybe think of a way to add sailing mechanics? I was thinking one of his peers or mentors might have been a Redguard, but y'know. Thinking of using Serenity - Elianora's player home ship and I wanted a way to mix in a love of water.

My biggest question is why would he want to join the Dawnguard, or join the Stormies/Imperials? I honestly think an Imperial victory hurts the Thalmor more, but what do you think?

Your input is so incredibly valued, trust me!

Okay, here's what I have so far, along with a little image to show what he looks like.

He's a Khajiit thief (name undecided) raised in Senchal, Elsweyr, where he grew up working on boats and sailing. He's skilled with a dagger and a bow, and he has a long lion-like mane. He's charming and humorous, as well as being very quick and intelligent. He enjoys stealing more for the challenge than anything else, and is annoyed when people remind him he's descended from Vasmhirr the Golden, a famous Khajiit Templar and the Vestige. He's not like Vasmhirr, he's his own cat.

He steals from the Thalmor to get back at them for oppressing his race - in need of better reasons for dislike here - and is a strong believer in freedom. He considers himself a hero of the Khajiit, in his own way, as well as being quite a ladies cat. He enjoys ale spiced with moonsugar, but he's not addicted to the substance.

He's going to do Dawnguard at the request of *whichever side in the Civil War he chooses* and will fall in love (though not admit it) with Serana. Together they'll finish the questline and become close.

Obviously, the Thieves Guild will be done. I haven't decided what exactly is to be done about when or why he'll start it, but the mods I'm using require him to actually be a thief, he won't just get approached.

He's going to use a sailing ship player home because he's in love with the Sea, and I'm using Serenity - by Elianora for that. It's small and looks amazing, perfect for a spy/thief/intellience agent of one of the civil war sides. Obviously, he has to deal with Dragons too but he's not the Dragonborn - another char of mine is. I'm using Skyrim Unbound to make sure he can't absorb Dragon Souls but make sure they still spawn in.

He's going to be close friends with Teldryn Sero, but I can't imagine why they'd meet.

He quite enjoys reading, and is fascinated with folk tales.

He has a severe mean streak when it comes to Thalmor, so there's that.

He's going to speak typical Khajiit way (Khajiit Speak), not Colovian.

He believes in the cause of *whichever civil war faction he chooses* strongly and admires the leader.

He washes his fur with lavendar.

Loathes Racism, so Stormcloaks are fairly unviable.

To-Do-List - Reasons for hating Thalmor, which side does he join (which side realistically winning would hurt the Thalmor more, not just this side is better because this) And I'd also like to figure out what hsi relationships with Jarls, the DB of my story, Isran, that kind of thing, and maybe where he'd live *on land* preferably in modded homes. He dislikes Dunmer but feels that it is somewhat unfair to keep them in the Gray Quarter. A few other random things I've forgotten that you think could improve him.
