I like the Reds too for that reason :) But there is a questline in ESO in which they are doing to the Ashlanders something akin to the Indian Removal Programs of North America in the 19th century. Ugh, grim stuff. Ain't no heroes anymore.

That doesn't make them honorless. They did what they believed to be right. Though I wouldn't call them heroes in any case. They are still Daedra worshippersXP

Sotha Sil ... there's something about that nut that I really like.

Some of the his ideas sound almost Altmeri... Almost.

Yeah, no, not really. Once you get to know what he wants to do (and has done), it's not Altmeri at all. Sure, they agree that Nirn is "broken," for a lack of a better term. But, that's the only thing they agree.

I got House Hlaalu which I was quite pleased with (I always liked them in ESIII) ... until I read the description

    You belong to House Hlaalu
House Hlaalu members love to negotiate, make deals, and generate a profit, and most members are more than willing to compromise in order to resolve disputes. Still, House Hlaalu’s love of high culture and urban life comes with a (perhaps unfair) reputation that labels them as corrupt, greedy bureaucrats.

    What?

Perhaps it has exposed my inner self **shock**...

They did what was right (i.e., expedient) for them. I'm sure the displaced Ashlanders didn't think House Redoran did what was right.

Ashlanders don't think anyone is right except themselves. Rightness is always subjective. No one thinks they are wrong, even cannibals from Markarth.

That's why I said "almost". The guy was sure he knows everything, which was an obvious mistake.

Yep, that's true of the Ashlanders. The difference is, unlike the great Houses, they try to keep to themselves.

I won't argue whether the violent displacement of families for a House expansion is right, despite how they justify it themelves. Telvanni do it all the time. They just do it - without having to convince themselves that it's right or wrong. They can't be bothered with philosophical questions like that. Such questions keep the Houses occupied with the pursuit of mundane things like money and ash.

I have to say, the part of Clockwork City I've experienced so far has been quite amazing.

Telvanni are honest? Lol, no, they just don't give a shit. They think that who is strong is right. Remind me of Talos...

I meant honest with themselves. The Houses justify their actions to make themselves sleep better at night.

You're an Altmer - you're just mad that Talos attained godhood and figured out how to ascend out of mortal existence. Altmer haven't been able to do it since Auriel.

(yes, I am just baiting you with a little tongue-in-cheek)

Apparently I'm a Redoran. I was expecting Hlaalu, but guess I wasn't materialistic enough...

I doubt that they needed to justify their actions to themselves. Redoran probably believed they do it for their families, and Hlaalu and Telvanni just don't care. They'll sleep wonderfully even after they murdered 1000 Argonian children.

It doesn't really matter whether Talos really attained godhood or not. The worship of him represents the idea that if you have strengsth you can do everything you wont and even if you deceive, betray and murder you are still a "hero". That's why he is even worse than Boethiah and Molag Bal. Those are at least known as evilXP
